Bruce Paton is a retired cardiac surgeon & wilderness medicine expert. He has accompanied expeditions as a trip doctor to Alaska, South America, Africa & Nepal. An avid outdoorsman, Paton has contributed to numerous texts & articles related to backcountry medicine, including "Wilderness First Aid: Emergency Care for Remote Locations". He is a former chairman of the Colorado Outward Bound School, as well as a past president of the Wilderness Medicine Society. He resides in Denver.
