Стр. 33 - And the trumpet that sings of fame; Not as the flying come, In silence and in fear; They shook the depths of the desert gloom With their hymns of lofty cheer. Amidst the storm they sang, And the stars heard, and the sea ; And the sounding aisles of the dim woods rang To the anthem of the free ! The ocean eagle soared From his nest by the white wave's foam ; And the rocking pines of the forest roared — There were men with hoary hair Amidst that pilgrim band.
Стр. 23 - I charge you before God, and his blessed angels, that you follow me no farther than you have seen me follow the Lord Jesus Christ. If God reveal any thing to you by any other instrument of his, be as ready to receive it, as ever you were to receive any truth by my ministry ; for I am verily persuaded, I am very confident, the Lord has more truth yet to break forth out of his holy word.
Стр. 33 - Not as the conqueror comes, They, the true-hearted, came, — Not with the roll of the stirring drums, And the trumpet that sings of fame ; Not as the flying come, In silence and in fear, — They shook the depths of the desert gloom With their hymns of lofty cheer. Amidst the storm they sang, And the stars heard, and the sea ; And the sounding aisles of the dim woods rang To the anthem of the free.
Стр. 23 - Examine it, consider it, and compare it with other scriptures of truth, before you receive it, for it is not possible that the christian world should come so lately out of such thick anti-christian darkness, and that perfection of knowledge should break forth at once.
Стр. 8 - Laws, freedom, truth, and faith in God Came with those exiles o'er the waves ; And where their pilgrim feet have trod The God they trusted guards their graves. And here Thy name, O God of Love, Their children's children shall adore, Till these eternal hills remove And spring adorns the earth no more.
Стр. 33 - When a band of exiles moored their bark On the wild New England shore. Not as the conqueror comes, They, the true-hearted came; Not with the roll of stirring drums And the trumpet that sings of fame; Not as the flying come In silence and in fear, They shook the depths of the desert gloom With their hymns of lofty cheer.
Стр. 8 - Thou heard'st, well pleased, the song, the prayer : Thy blessing came ; and still its power Shall onward through all ages bear The memory of that holy hour.
Стр. 13 - His truth, they shook off this yoke of antichristian bondage, and as the Lord's free people joined themselves (by a covenant of the Lord) into a church estate, in the fellowship of the Gospel, to walk in all His ways made known, or to be made known unto them, according to their best endeavors, whatsoever it should cost them, the Lord assisting them.
Стр. 20 - Lastly, and which was not least, a great hope and inward zeal they had of laying some good foundation, or at least to make some way thereunto, for the propagating and advancing the Gospel of the Kingdom of CHRIST in those remote parts of the world : yea, though they should be but even as stepping stones unto others, for the performing of so great a work.
Стр. 7 - Our Father, who art in heaven; hallowed be Thy Name; Thy Kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven; give us this day our daily bread; forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil; for Thine is the Kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever.
