TRANSMITTING

The information required by a resolution of the House of Representatives of the 14th of January last, in relation to private land claims in the Territory of Michigan.

SIR: In obedience to the resolution of the House of Representatives, of the 14th of January last, directing the Secretary of the Treasury "to furnish the House with a copy of the decision of the commissioners on all private land claims at Michilimackinac, Green Bay, and Prairie du Chien, in the Territory of Michigan, together with connected plats and copies of the field notes of all such claims as have been surveyed at either of the aforementioned places," I have the honor, herewith, to transmit to the House a report from the Commissioner of the General Land Office, to whom this resolution was referred, together with the documents accompanying his report. I am, very respectfully,

BALANCES ON THE BOOKS OF THE REGISTER AND FOURTH AUDITOR OF THE TREASURY.

LETTER

FROM THE

COMPTROLLER OF THE TREASURY,

Transmitting statements of balances on the books of the Register and Fourth Auditor of the Treasury, which have remained due more than three years prior to the 30th of September last.

DECEMBER 16, 1835.

Read, and laid upon the table.

SIR: In compliance with the provisions of the act of Congress, passed he 3d March, 1809, entitled "An act further to amend the several acts for he establishment and regulation of the Treasury, War, and Navy Depart nents;" and of the act passed the 3d of March, 1817, entitled "An act to rovide for the settlement of public accounts," I have the honor to transmit erewith the following statement, viz:

A list of balances on the books of the Register of the Treasury, which ave remained unsettled, or appear to have been due three years prior to he 30th of September, 1835. And,

An abstract of balances remaining on the books of the Fourth Auditor ›r more than three years, prior to the 30th September, 1835; together with copy of the letter of the Auditor, which accompanied the said abstract. I have the honor to be, With great respect,
