2 Mightiest kings his power shall own, Heathen tribes his name adore; Satan and his host, o'erthrown,

Bound in chains, shall hurt no more.

3 Then shall wars and tumults cease,
Then be banished grief and pain;
Righteousness, and joy, and peace,
Undisturbed shall ever reign.

4 Bless we, then, our gracious Lord,
Ever praise his glorious name;
All his mighty acts record,
All his wondrous love proclaim.

Rejoicing in Christ's Reign.

HARK!-the song of jubilee,
Loud-as mighty thunders roar;

Or the fulness of the sea,

When it breaks upon the shore—

2 See Jehovah's banners furled!

Sheathed his sword:-he speaks-'tis
done!

Now the kingdoms of this world
Are the kingdom of his Son.

3 He shall reign from pole to pole,
With supreme, unbounded sway:
He shall reign, when, like a scroll,
Yonder heavens have passed away!

4 Hallelujah! for the Lord,

God omnipotent shall reign: Hallelujah!-let the word

Echo round the earth and main,

The Blessedness of Christ's Reign.
HAIL to the Lord's anointed!
Great David's greater Son;
Hail in the time appointed,
His reign on earth begun!
He comes to break oppression,
To set the captive free,
To take away transgression,
And rule in equity.

2 He shall come down like showers
Upon the fruitful earth,
And love, and joy, like flowers,
Spring in his path to birth:
Before him on the mountains,
Shall peace, the herald, go,
And righteousness, in fountains,
From hill to valley flow.
3 For him shall prayer unceasing,
And daily vows ascend;
His kingdom still increasing,
A kingdom without end:
The tide of time shall never
His covenant remove;

His name shall stand forever;
That name to us is-LOVE.

The Church rescued and comforted. DAUGHTER of Zion, awake from thy sadness! Awake! for thy foes shall oppress thee no more; Bright o'er thy hills dawns the day-star of gladness, Arise! for the night of thy sorrow is o'er.

2 Strong were thy foes, but the arm that subdued them,

And scattered their legions, was mightier far;

They fled like the chaff from the scourge that pursued them;

Vain were their steeds and their chariots of war.

3 Daughter of Zion, the power that hath saved thee Extolled with the harp and the timbrel should be; Shout! for the foe is destroyed that enslaved thee, Th' oppressor is vanquished, and Zion is free.

Missionary Farewell.

YES, my native land, I love thee;
All thy scenes I love them well';
Friends, connections, happy country!
Can I bid you all-farewell?
Can I leave you-

Far in heathen lands to dwell?

2 HOME! thy joys are passing lovely;
Joys no stranger-heart can tell!
Happy home! 'tis sure I love thee!
Can I-can I say-Farewell?
Can I leave thee-

Far in heathen lands to dwell?

8 Scenes of sacred peace and pleasure,
Holy days, and Sabbath bell,
Richest, brightest, sweetest treasure!
Can I say a last-farewell?
Can I leave you-

Far in heathen lands to dwell?

4 Yes! I hasten from you gladly,
From the scenes I loved so well!
Far away, ye billows, bear me;
Lovely native land-farewell!
Pleased I leave thee-

Far in heathen lands to dwell,

5 In the deserts let me labor,

On the mountains let me tell
How he died-the blessed Saviour-
To redeem a world from hell!
Let me hasten,

Far in heathen lands to dwell.
6 Bear me on, thou restless ocean;
Let the winds my canvass swell-
heart with warm emotion,
go far hence to dwell.
Glad I bid thee,

Heaves my
While I

Native land!-FAREWELL-FAREWELL!

PRAYER.

78.

Relief and Comfort sought in Prayer.
COME, my soul, thy suit prepare;
Jesus loves to answer prayer;
He himself has bid thee pray;
Rise and ask without delay.
2 With my burden I begin:
Lord, remove this load of sin;
Let thy blood, for sinners spilt,
Set my conscience free from guilt.
3 Lord, I come to thee for rest;
Take possession of my breast:
Thou thy sovereign right maintain,
And without a rival reign.

Self Consecration.

MY faith looks up to thee,
Thou Lamb of Calvary;
Saviour divine!

Now hear me while I pray;
Take all my guilt away;
Oh! let me from this day
Be wholly thine.

2 May thy rich grace impart
Strength to my fainting heart,
My zeal inspire;

As thou hast died for me,
Oh! may my love to thee,
Pure, warm, and changeless be,
A living fire.

3 While life's dark maze I tread,
And griefs around me spread,
Be thou my guide;

Bid darkness turn to day,
Wipe sorrow's tears away,
Nor let me ever stray
From thee aside.

When ends life's transient dream,
When death's cold, sullen stream
Shall o'er me roll;
Blest Saviour, then in love,
Fear and distress remove:
Oh! bear me safe above,
A ransomed soul.

Nature of Prayer.

PRAYER is the contrite sinner's voice,
Returning from his ways;

While angels in their songs rejoice,
And cry, 'Behold, he prays.'

2 Prayer is the Christian's vital breath,
The Christian's native air;
