Joining the Church of Christ.
YE men and angels, witness now,

Before the Lord we speak;
To him we make our solemn vow-

A vow we dare not break,-
2 That, long as life itself shall last,

Ourselves to Christ we yield;
Nor from his cause will we depart,

3 We trust not in our native strength,

But on his grace rely ;
May he, with our returning wants,

All needful aid supply.
4 Oh guide our doubtful feet aright,

And keep us in thy ways ;

And while we turn our vows to prayers,
Turn thou our prayers to praise.

LET party names no more

The Christian world o'erspread:
Gentile and Jew, and bond and free,

Are one in Christ their head. 2 Among the saints on earth

Let mutual love be found;
Heirs of the same inheritance,

Where streams of endless pleasure flow,
And every heart is love.

The heavenly Race.
AWAKE, my soul—stretch every nerve,

And press with vigor on:
A heavenly ráce demands thy zeal,

A bright, immortal crown.
2 'Tis God's all-animating voice

That calls thee from on high; 'Tis his own hand presents the prize

To thine aspiring eye. 3 A cloud of witnesses around

Hold thee in full survey: Forget the steps already trod,

And onward urge thy way. 4 Blest Saviour_introduced by thee,

Have we our race begun;

And, crowned with victory, at thy feet

Christian Warfare and Victory. STAND up, my soul-shake off thy fears,

And gird the gospel armor on; March to the gates of endless joy,

Where Jesus, thy great Captain's gone. 2 Hell and thy sins resist thy course ;

But hell and sin are vanquished foes; Thy Jesus nailed them to the cross, And

sung the triumph when he rose. 3 Then let my soul march boldly on,

Press forward to the heavenly gate; There peace and joy eternal reign,

And glittering robes for conquerors wait. 4 There shall I wear a starry crown,

And triumph in almighty grace;
While all the armies of the skies
Join in my glorious Leader's praise.

Watchfulness and Prayer inculcated.
MY soul, be on thy guard,

Ten thousand foes arise ;
The hosts of sin are pressing hard

-To draw thee from the skies. 2 Oh watch, and fight, and pray ;

The battle ne'er give o'er;
Renew it boldly every day,

And help divine implore.
3 Ne'er think the victory won,

Nor lay thine armor down:

Thy arduous work will not be done

Till thou obtain thy crown. 4 Fight on, my soul, till death

Shall bring thee to thy God; He'll take thee, at thy parting breath,

Up to his blest abode.

Christian Courage and Self-denial.
AM I a soldier of the cross,

A follower of the Lamb ?-
And shall I fear to own his cause?-

Or blush to speak his name?
2 Are there no foes for me to face ?

Must I not stem the flood ?
Is this vile world a friend to grace,

To help me on to God? 3 Sure I must fight—if I would reign;

Increase my courage, Lord !
I'll bear the toil-endure the pain,

Supported by thy word.
4 Thy saints, in all this glorious war,

Shall conquer, though they're slain : They see the triumph from afar, And soon with Christ shall

reign. 5 When that illustrious day shall rise,

And all thy armies shine In robes of victory through the skies, · The glory shall be thine.

Succor implored in spiritual Conflicts.
ALAS, what hourly dangers rise !

What snares beset my way!

To heaven, oh let me lift mine eyes,

And hourly watch and pray.
2 O gracious God! in whom I live,

My feeble efforts aid;
Help me to watch, and pray, and strive,

Though trembling and afraid.
3 Oh keep me in thy heavenly way,

Hope of Heaven by Christ.
AND art thou, gracious Master, gone

A mansion to prepare for me
Shall I behold thee on thy throne,

And there forever sit with thee?
Then, let the world approve or blame,

When thou my worthless name wilt own!
When I shall see thee as thou art,
