How large his bounties are !
What various stores of good,
Diffus’å from our Redeemer's hand,

And purchas'd with his blood ! 4 Jesus our living head,

We bless thy faithful care ; .
Our advocate before the throne,

And our forerunner there.
5 Here fix, my roving heart !
Here wait, my: warmneit love!

I Till the communion be complete In nobler içepes above. HYMN CLXXXIV. 1. M. [scenze, I

Thanks unto God ifór bis Unspeakable Gift." I TO Jesus our esalted Lord,

(Dear name by heav’n and earth ador’d) Fain would our hearts and voices raise

A cheerful song of sacred praise.
2 But all the notes which mortals know,

Are weak, and languishing, and low.;
Far, far above our humble fongs,

The theme demands immortal tongues. 3 Yet while around his board we meet,

And humbly worship at his feet ;
O let our warm affections move,

In glad returns of grateful love! 4 Let faith our feeble senses aid,

To see thy wond'rous love display'd,
Thy broken flesh, thy bleeding veins,
Thy dreadful agonizing pains.

5 Let humble penitential woe,

With painful, pleasing anguilh, flow;
And thy forgiving smiles impart

Life hope and joy to ev'ry heart.

! NONE but Jefus will we fing,

He our Prophet, Priest, and King,
Shall be forevermore.
None among the heav'nly pow'rs,
Nor one on earth, our praise may claim ;
None but Jesus call we ours,
None but the bleeding Lamb !

HIS God is the God we adore,

Our faithful unchangeable friend,
Whose love is as large as his pow'r,
And neither knows measure nor end.
?Tis Jesus the first and the last,
Whose spirit shall guide us fafe home,
We'll praise him, for all that is paft,
And trust him, for all that's to come.

Solemn Praise.
SING the triumphs of your conqu’ring

Head and crucified King ;
His atchievements, when he vanquish'd
All our enemies, we'll sing :
Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah,

Glory, Glory, Lord be thine ! ::: 2 Long he Aruggled with confused

Noise, and garments roll'd in blood ;
'Till destroying sin and hell, and
Death, he refcu'd man to God :
Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah,

Glory, Glory, Lord, be thine !
3 Most triumphant, greatly glorious,

He from death and hell arose !
In him all his church victorious,
Triumph'd o'er her dreadful foes :
Halelujah, Hallelujah; Hallelujah,

Glory, Glory, Lord be thine ! 4 High afcending 'midt angelic

Songs, and founds of trumpets loud,
In eternal triumph leading
All the captives of his blood :
Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah,

Glory, Glory, Lord be thine ! 5

Far above the highest hear'n
Thus he glor'ously ascends,

[ocr errors]

Where the honors to him givin,
Ev'ry thougiit of man transcends.
Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah,

Glory, Glory, Lord be thine!
6 There, exalted, live and reign, whilst

We admire, thy wounds and blood,
Till we fee thee come again, in
All the pomp and power of God :
Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah,
Glory, Glory, Lord be thine !

LIVING spirits. I, flames of fire!

Leaders of th’immortal choir,
Fill the heav'n of heav'ns above,

Full of praise, as full of love. 2 Ancients! elders ! cry aloud,

Worthy thou the Saviour God,
Thrones, dominions, angels join!

Glory, glory, Lord, be thine. 3

Church first born!! first fruits ! proclaim
Honor to E:nman'el's name,
Nations ! kindreds ! countless tongues !

Offer Christ your noblest songs. 4 Holy, holy, holy cry:

Heav'n and earth and sea reply,
Trump of God ! repeat the frain;
God with us ! pronounce amen.

HYMN CLXXXIX. c. M. [wester's coll.]

: Praife.
O FOR á thoufand torrgues

to fing
My dear Redeemer's praife ! :
The glories of my God and King,
The triumphs of his gracer
Jefas, the name that charms our fears,
That bids our forrows cease ;
Tis music the finner's ears,
*Tis life, and liealth, and peace.
He breaks the pow'r of cancel'd fin,
He fets the pris'ners free ;
His blood can make the foules clean,

His blood avail'd for me.
4 He speaks, and lift'ning to his voice,

New life the dead receive ;
The mournful, broken hearts rejoice,

The humble poor believe.
5 Hear him, ye deaf, his praile, ye dumb,

Your loosen'd tongues employ;
Ye blind, behold your Saviour come,
And leap, ye lame, for joy.

i O THOU ! in whom the Gentiles trust,

Thou only holy, only just ;
O tune our souls to praise thy name,

Jesus! unchangeable, the fame!
2 If angels, whilft to thee they fing,

Wrap up their faces in their wing;
