CHAP. I.

Of GOD, and the true and saving Know

ledge of him.

by all sorts of Christians, that the

height of happiness confifteth in coming to know and enjoy eternal life ; what is it in the sense and judgment of Christ?

A. This is life eternal, that they might John know thee the only true God, and Jesus '7• 3. Christ whom thou hast fent.

Q. How doth God reveal this knowledge ?

A. One God.

We know that an idol is nothing in the 8.4.6. world, and that there is none other God

but one. But to us there is but one God.

Q. What is God? John À. God is a spirit.

Q. Among all the blessed, glorious, and divine excellencies of God, which are ascribed and given to him in the scriptures ; what is that which is most needful for us to take notice of, as being the message which the apostles re. corded in special manner to declare of him now
