Mer-ci- ful and Might-y! God in Three Per-sons, bless-ed Trin-i ty! A-MEN.

2 Holy, Holy, Holy! All the saints adore Thee,
Casting down their golden crowns around the glassy sea;
Cherubim and seraphim falling down before Thee,
Who wert, and art, and evermore shalt be.

3 Holy, Holy, Holy! Though the darkness hide Thee,
Though the eye of sinful man Thy glory may not see,
Only Thou art holy; there is none beside Thee

Perfect in power, in love, and purity.

4 Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty!

All Thy works shall praise Thy Name, in earth and sky and sea;
Holy, Holy, Holy! Merciful and Mighty!

God in Three Persons, blessed Trinity!

Bishop Reginald Heber, publ. 1827

Arr. from Christopher Tye, 1553

I O God, we praise Thee; and confess That Thou, the only Lord

And Everlasting Father, art By all the earth a- dored. A - MEN.

2 To Thee all angels cry aloud;
To Thee the powers on high,
Both cherubim and seraphim,
Continually do cry:-

3 O Holy, Holy, Holy Lord,
Whom heavenly hosts obey,
The world is with the glory filled
Of Thy majestic ray.

4 The apostles' glorious company,
And prophets crowned with light,

With all the martyrs' noble host,
Thy constant praise recite.

5 The holy Church throughout the world,
O Lord, confesses Thee,
That Thou Eternal Father art,
Of boundless majesty ;

6 Thy honored, true, and only Son;
And Holy Ghost, the Spring

Of never-ceasing joy: O Christ,
Of glory Thou art King.

Anon. (Latin, 5th Century.) Tr. Tate and Brady's Supplement, c. 1700

God the Father Almighty

35 (DUNDEE) C. M.

I GOD moves in a mysterious way
His wonders to perform;
He plants His footsteps in the sea,
And rides upon the storm.

2 Deep in unfathomable mines

Of never-failing skill

He treasures up His bright designs,
And works His sovereign will.

3 Ye fearful saints, fresh courage take;
The clouds ye so much dread

Are big with mercy, and shall break
In blessings on your head.

4 Judge not the Lord by feeble sense,
But trust Him for His grace;
Behind a frowning providence
He hides a smiling face.
Blind unbelief is sure to err,
And scan His work in vain ;
God is His own Interpreter,
And He will make it plain.

And span-gled heavens, a shin-ing frame,Their great O-rig - i-nal pro-claim. A-Men.

2 The unwearied sun, from day to day,
Does his Creator's power display,
And publishes to every land
The work of an almighty hand.

3 Soon as the evening shades prevail,
The moon takes up the wondrous tale,
And nightly to the listening earth
Repeats the story of her birth;

4 Whilst all the stars that round her burn, And all the planets in their turn,

I HIGH in the heavens, Eternal God,
Thy goodness in full glory shines;
Thy truth shall break through every cloud
That veils and darkens Thy designs.

2 For ever firm Thy justice stands,
As mountains their foundations keep;
Wise are the wonders of Thy hands;
Thy judgments are a mighty deep.

3 Thy providence is kind and large, Both man and beast Thy bounty share;

Confirm the tidings as they roll, And spread the truth from pole to pole. 5 What though in solemn silence all

Move round the dark terrestrial ball?
What though nor real voice nor sound
Amid their radiant orbs be found?

6 In reason's ear they all rejoice,
And utter forth a glorious voice;
For ever singing, as they shine,
"The hand that made us is Divine.'
Joseph Addison, 1712

The whole creation is Thy charge,
But saints are Thy peculiar care.

4 From the provisions of Thy house.
We shall be fed with sweet repast;
There mercy like a river flows,
And brings salvation to our taste.

5 Life, like a fountain, rich and free,
Springs from the presence of my Lord;
And in Thy light our souls shall see
The glories promised in Thy word.

Rev. Isaac Watts, 1719

2 Let the people praise Thee, Lord;
Be by all that live adored :
Let the nations shout and sing,
Glory to their Saviour King;
At Thy feet their tributes pay,
And Thy holy will obey.

NUREMBERG 7.7.7.7.

3 Let the people praise Thee, Lord;
Earth shall then her fruits afford;
God to man His blessing give,
Man to God devoted live;
All below, and all above,
One in joy, and light, and love.

Rev. Henry F. Lyte, 1834
