CLXXIX

Roll on, thou deep and dark blue Ocean - roll! Ten thousand fleets sweep over thee in vain; Man marks the earth with ruin his control Stops with the shore; upon the watery plain The wrecks are all thy deed, nor doth remain A shadow of man's ravage, save his own, When, for a moment, like a drop of rain, He sinks into thy depths with bubbling groan, Without a grave, unknell 'd, uncoffin'd, and unknown.

CLXXX

His steps are not upon thy paths,

thy fields

Are not a spoil for him, thou dost arise And shake him from thee; the vile strength he wields For earth's destruction thou dost all despise, Spurning him from thy bosom to the skies And send'st him, shivering in thy playful spray And howling, to his Gods, where haply lies His petty hope in some near port or bay, And dashest him again to earth: — - there let him lay.

CLXXXI

The armaments which thunderstrike the walls
Of rock-built cities, bidding nations quake,
And monarchs tremble in their capitals,
The oak leviathans, whose huge ribs make
Their clay creator the vain title take
Of lord of thee, and arbiter of war;
These are thy toys, and, as the snowy flake,
They melt into thy yeast of waves, which mar
Alike the Armada's pride, or spoils of Trafalgar.

Շարժլեաց խորին ովկեան ալեօքըդ թուխ կապուտակ Զուր ըզմկանամբք քովք քարշին գընան տորմիղք բիւրախումբ. Զաւերածու ձեռացն Հետըս ձըգէ մարդ ի ցամաք, Այլ դիմակալ ծովուն եզը արձանանայ նըմին թումբ:

ի ջըրեղենըն դաշտի դու միայն գործես խորտակմունս . Չիք անդ մարդոյնիչ քանդիչ, բայց մի եւեթ, ինքն ինքնին . Յորժամ՝առ վայր մի Հանգոյն իմըն կայլակն անձրեւին վիժէ ճողփմամբ ի քոյին յանդընդախոր յորձանոտ Անդագաղ անպատան անլաց անսուգ

Ոչ ձըգեսցեն ոտք մարդոյ կընիքս ի քոյդ ասպարէս,
Եւ ոչ տարցի նա զկապուտ քոյոյ Հովտաց յաւարի .
Դու ամբարձեալ վերասցիս ի բաց ըզնա Հերքեսցես՝
Հենգնեալ զուժովն ապիկար՝ որով դըղորդ տայ երկրի .
Անդընդամուղ դու տրոփմամբդ ըզնա ձըգեալընդ երկինս
Եւ ջախջախեալ խաղալիկ ծըփանացդ ահագին .

Մինչ նա դեռ դից իւր մաղթէ, եւ առ օճան վըտանգին Հուպնաւակայս ինչ կամ խոր, դուղնաքեայ տալ ժըտէ զբաղդ, ւ դու վարեալարկանես ի ցամաք . թող կացցէ անդ :

Որմնախարխար մենքենայք որձաքարից դըղեկաց Սարսեցուցիչքն այն ազանց բախմամբ թընդից շանթաթափք Դըրդուեցուցիչք արքայից ժիշխանանիստ քաղաքաց, կիտահասակ կաղնէկուռ եւ լայնակող նաւափայտք որ պանծացեալմեծամիտ Հաստիչք նոցուն կաւեղէնք՝ կոչեն զանձինս ծովիշխանս եւ յաղթութեանց մարտադիրք, Դոքա զբօսանք են առ քեւ, եւ իբրեւ ձեան ծըւէնք ցիրք Հալին յալեաց քոց փրփուրս, այնք՝ որ եղենն ոտընփար Յոխորտակեալն Արմադայ 96 եւ նըշխարաց Տրափայկար 972

CLXXXII

Thy shores are empires, changed in all save thee Assyria, Greece, Rome, Carthage, what are they? Thy waters wash'd them while they were free, And many a tyrant since; their shores obey The stranger, slave, or savage; their decay Has dried up realms to deserts: not so thou; Unchangeable, save to thy wild waves' play — Time writes no wrinkle on thine azure browSuch as creation's dawn beheld, thou rollest now.

CLXXXIII

Thou glorious mirror, where the Almighty 's form
Glasses itself in tempests; in all time,

Calm or convulsed-in breeze, or gale, or storm,
Icing the pole, or in the torrid clime
Dark-heaving;-boundless, endless, and sublime -
The image of Eternity-

Of the Invisible; even from out thy slime

The monsters of the deep are made; each zone Obeys thee; thou goest forth, dread, fathomless, alone.

CLXXXIV

And I have loved thee, Ocean! and my joy
Of youthful sports was on thy breast to be
Borne, like thy bubbles, onward: from a boy
I wanton'd with thy breakers they to me
Were a delight; and if the freshening sea
Made them a terror't was a pleasing fear,"
For I was as it were a child of thee,

And trusted to thy billows far and near,

And laid my hand upon thy mane- as I do here.

Ափունքդ այդ՝ են պետութիւն , փոխեալ Համայն ի քէն զատ, Ասորեստան ու Ելլադա, Հռովմ, կարքեդովն, ուր են արդ . Ջուրք քո զնոսա մաչէին, մինչդեռ կային դեռ ազատ, Որպէս յետոյ արկին անդ բըռնաւորաց ձեռք աղարտ: Ափունքն այն խուժք եւ սըտրուկք նըւաճեցան յօտարաց . Անկմամբ նոցին՝ պետութիւնք յամայիս կորդ փոխեցան : Դու ոչ այդպէս . կաս մընաս նոյն , բաց յալեացըդ դրուժան . կապոյտ դիմաց քոց չածէ ծիրըս ծընգեալս՝ ամանակ . իբր ժայգու անդ ստեղծման քում՝ Հոսես եւ

արդ նոյնգունակ:

Ո՛վ Հրաշափառ Հայելի, յոր բարձրելոյն իսկ ինքնին
կերպարանի երեւոյթ՝ ի յոյզ ծըփանց մըրըրկաց.
Դու Հանապազ՝ թէ քստմնեալ եւ Հողմահար, թէ լըռին,
ի սիւք ու ի բուք ի սաՀմանս սառնասուզակ բեւեռաց
Եւ ընդ թօնուտ արջնաթոյր այրեցածին խորշակաւ,
Անեզը անՀուն եւ վըսեմ յաւերժութեան ես պատկեր .
Գահաւորակ անտեսին . ի նոյն Հիւթոյ քումտարեր՝
Զեռունք վըչիդ Հաստեցան . երկիրս ամէն քեզ պատկառ,
Եւ դու սիգաս խաղաս սոնք անՀետազօտ մենափառ .

Էի եւ ես խանդակաթ ի սեր քոյին՝ ովկէան,
Եւ ըզբօսանք մանկութեան իմոյ եղեն՝ քո ալիք .
Սահիլ գընալ ի նոսին պըղպըջակաց քոց նըման .
Տըղայ տիոցս՝ ափնակոծ կոՀակքդ էին խաղալիկք •
Նոքին ինձ Հեշտք եւ Հաճոյք • ցըրտասարսուռ եւ թէ ծով
Արկանէր ահ ինչ նոքօք, էր եւ երկեղն այն քաղցրիկ .
Քանզի նըման իսկ նոցին՝ էի եւ ես քո ուստրիկ.
Յանձն ի ծըփանքըդ եղեալ եւ ի մօտոյ եւ Հեռուստ,
Եւ իբր յայժմուս՝ գըգուէին ձեռք իմ՝ ըզբալ բո Հարուստ :
