3 All those who have his goodness proved,
Will in his truth confide;
Whose mercy ne'er forsook the man,
Who on his help relied.

4 Sing praises, therefore, to the Lord,
From Sion, his abode;

Proclaim his deeds, till all the world
Confess no other God.

PSALM 10. L. M.

Jehovah the Saviour of the fatherless and afflicted.

1 GREAT GOD, thy equal mercies flow
Alike to all, or high, or low;
Unerring justice marks thy name,
'Mid changing time and worlds the same.

2 The meek observer of thy laws
To Thee commits his injured cause;
In Thee, each anxious fear resign'd,
The fatherless a Father find.

3 Thou, Lord, thy people's wish cans't read,
Ere from their lips the prayer proceed;
'Tis thine their drooping hearts to rear,
And bow to every sigh thine ear.

4 The weeping orphan's cheek to dry,
The guiltless sufferer's cause to try;
To rein each earth-born tyrant's will,
And bid the sons of pride be still.

PSALM 11. L. M.

God loves the righteous and hates the wicked.

1 My refuge is the God of Love; Why do my foes insult and cry,

"Fly, like a timorous trembling dove, To distant woods, or mountains fly?" 2 The Lord in Heaven has fixed his throne, His eyes survey the world below; To him all mortal things are known, His eye-lids search our spirits through. 3 If He afflicts his saints so far,

To prove their love, and try their grace;
What must the bold trangressors fear?
His very soul abhors their ways.

4 The righteous Lord loves righteous souls,
Whose thoughts and actions are sincere;
And with a gracious eye beholds
The just, who worship him in fear.

PSALM 13. c. M.

A prayer for divine assistance; and an act of faith in God. 1 How long wilt Thou forget me, Lord? Must I for ever mourn?

How long wilt thou withdraw from me,
Oh! never to return?

2 Oh hear! and to my longing eyes,
Restore thy wonted light:

And suddenly, or I shall sleep
In everlasting night.

3 Since I have always placed my trust
Beneath thy mercy's wing,

Thy saving health will come, and then
My heart with joy shall spring.

4 Then shall my song, with praise inspired,
To Thee, my God, ascend;
Who to thy servant in distress,
Such bounty didst extend.

PSALM 15. C. M.

The character of faithful and acceptable worshippers.
1 LORD, who's the happy man that may
To thy blest courts repair?
Not stranger-like to visit them,
But to inhabit there?

2 The man who walks in pious ways,
And works with righteous hands;
Who trusts his Maker's promises,
And follows his commands;

3 Who speaks the meaning of his heart,
Nor slanders with his tongue;
Will scarce believe an ill report,
Nor do his neighbour wrong.

4 Whose hands disdain a golden bribe,
And never grind the poor-

This man, when earth's foundation shakes,
Shall stand, with God secure.

PSALM 16. C. M.

The Christian's hope in life and death.

1 PROTECT me from my cruel foes,
And shield me, Lord, from harm;
Because my trust I still repose
On thy Almighty arm.

2 I strive each action to approve
To thine all-seeing-eye;
No danger shall my hopes remove,
Because Thou still art nigh.

3 Therefore my heart all grief defies,
My glory does rejoice;

My flesh shall rest in hope to rise,
Wak'd by thy powerful voice.
4 Thou shalt the paths of life display
Which to thy presence lead;
Where pleasures dwell without allay,
And joys that never fade.

PSALM 17. L. M.

Forsaking the world, and hoping for glory.

I WHAT sinners value I resign,
Lord, 'tis enough that Thou art mine;
May I behold thy glorious face,
And stand complete in righteousness.
2 This life's a dream, an empty show;
But the bright world to which I go
Hath joys substantial, and sincere;
When shall I wake, and find me there?

3 O glorious hour! O blest abode !
I shall be near and like my God!
And flesh and sin no more controul
The sacred pleasures of the soul.

4 My flesh shall slumber in the ground, 'Till the last trumpet's awful sound; Then burst the chain, with sweet surprise, And in my Saviour's image rise.

PSALM 18. L. M.

The Church risen, and victorious in Christ her head.

1 No change of times shall ever shock
My firm affection, Lord, to thee;
For Thou hast always been a rock,
A fortress, and defence to me.

2 Thou my deliverer art, my God,
My trust is in thy mighty power;
Thou art my shield from foes abroad,
At home, my safe-guard and my tower.

3 Let the eternal Lord be praised,

The rock on whose defence I rest; O'er highest heavens his name be raised, Who me with his salvation blest.

4 Therefore, to celebrate his fame,

My grateful voice to heaven I'll raise;
And nations, strangers to his name,
Shall thus be taught to sing his praise.
