My richest gain I count but lofs,
And pour contempt on all my pride.

2 Forbid it Lord, that I should boast,
Save in the crofs of Chrift my God;
All the vain things that charm me most,
I facrifice them to his blood.

3 See from his head, his hands, his feet, Sorrow and love flow mingled down! Did e'er fuch love and forrow meet?

Or thorns compofe fo rich a crown?

4 Were the whole realm of nature mine, That were a prefent far too small;

Love fo amazing, so divine,

Demands my foul, my life, my all.

:

Gratitude.

HEN all thy mercies, O my God,
My happy foul furveys;

Transported with the view, I'm loft
In wonder, love, and praise.

2 Thy providence my life fuftain'd,
And all my wants redreft;
When in the filent womb I lay,
And hung upon the breast.

3

Unnumber'd comforts, Lord of all,
Thy tender care bestow'd;

Before my infant-heart conceiv'd,
From whom thofe comforts flow'd.

4 When in the flipp'ry paths of youth,
With heedlefs Reps Iran;
Thy arm, unfeen, convey'd me fafe,
And led me on to man.

5

When worn by ficknefs oft haft thou
With health renew'd my face;

And when in fins and forrows funk,
Reviv'd my foul with grace.

6 Thy bounteous hand, with various good
Hath made my cup run o'er;
And in thy fon, my dearest friend,
Hath doubled all my store.

7 Thro' ev'ry period of my life,
Thy goodness I'll pursue ;
And after death in distant worlds,
The glorious theme renew.

8 Thro' all eternity my God,
A joyful fọng I'll raise;
But Oh! eternity's too short,
To utter all thy praise.

XXXIX. A blessed Gospel.

B

LEST are the fouls that hear and know,
The gospel's joyful found;

Peace fhall attend the paths they go,
And all their steps furround.

2 The gospel bears their spirits up,
Thro' their Redeemer's name ;

His

His righteousness exalts their hope,::
Nor fatan dares condemn.

3:

The Lord their helper and defence,
Strength and falvation gives;
Jesus, their king, in glory reigns,,
Their God for ever lives.

Acts.xv 36.

ESUS, Redeemer, Saviour, Loid,
We bless thee for the gofpel word ';
O fend the joyful found abroad,.
Let all the nations know, their God!

2: Our fins have cry'd to heav'n aloud,
Provok'd the vengeance of a God;
But Jefus undertakes our caufe,
And fatisfies his father's laws.

3. Thus we are fav'd from endless wrath,
Redeem'd by our Immanuel's death ;
From fin and guilt, from grief and woe,
And made the heirs of glory too..

4. O finners view the bleeding Lamb!
He dy'd for you, trust in his name :
Believe, for you the Saviour dy'd :,
Believe and you are justify'd.

5

Dear Jefus, fend thy gofpel forth,..

From east to west, from fouth to north:

Let

Let finners thy falvation fee,
And diftant nations truft in thee.

XLI. Juftified freely by his
Grace, &c. Rom. iii. 24.

CONDEMN'D are all the fons of men,

Jehovah's law is broke;

But Jefus the Redeemer, came

To fave us from the stroke.

2 To fave our wretched fouls from woe,

He left his throne above:! Glory to him that lov'd us so; Let angels fing his love.

2 The firm foundation for our hope,
Is laid in Jefu's blood;

This bears the helpless finner up,
And brings him near to God.

3 Jefus a full atonement made
For Adam's fallen race;
All that believe are justify'd,
Are justify'd by grace.

For love fo infinite as this,
Let endless praises rife,

To Chrift the maker of our peace,

To Chrift our facrifice.

XLII.

Juftified by Faith.

Rom, v. L..

EHOLD, to what a wretched cafe,

BEHOLD, to

Hath fin reduc'd the human race!
Juftice condemns the rebel dead;
Nor hath the rebel aught to plead.

2 Yet all mankind have gone aftray;
We all have chose the crooked way;
By nature all are fons of wrath,
Obnoxious to eternal death.

3 But (O! how wond'rous is the grace !)
Jefus hath took the finner's place';
To fave our lives, he gave his own,
And in his gofpel makes it known.

4 They who believe the gofpel word,
And truft in thy falvation, Lord
Their vileft fins are now forgiv'n,
Rebels are made the heirs of heav'n.

Awake my heart, awake my tongue,
Salvation fhall be all my fong :
Let all on earth, and all above,
For ever fing my Saviour's love.
