What then do we seek? There are thoughtless Teachers. We would fain rouse them to feel their responsibilities. There are indolent Teachers. We would excite them to redeem the time, lest the precious opportunity be lost for ever. There are incompetent Teachers. We would constrain them not to resign, but to improve themselves. There are desponding Teachers. We would animate their drooping faith; would remind them that their experience is that of many faithful servants of God before them, who long seemed to spend their strength in vain, but found at last that no labour wrought for Christ was ever yet lost. There are faithful, patient, self-denying, prayerful Teachers. We would commune with such, and catch their spirit, whilst in turn we bid them be "in labours more abundant." And, in conclusion, we have for all a Prayer, a Motto, a Watchword, an Encouragement, a Reward. Indolence will blush, Impatience will hide its head, Unbelief will disappear, if, amidst the devotions of the Closet, the preparations of the Study, and the labours of the School, the Teacher can but live in the full spirit of the Divine Prayer "Thy Kingdom come."
