BEFORE THE SERMON.
73HOLY,Holy, Holy! LORD GOD Almighty! Early in the morning our song shall rise to Thee;
Holy, Holy, Holy! Merciful and Mighty! GOD in Three Persons, Blessed TRINITY! Holy, Holy, Holy! all Thy Saints adore
Casting down their golden crowns around the glassy sea;
Cherubim and Seraphim, falling down before Thee,
Which wert, and art, and evermore shalt be!
Holy, Holy, Holy! though the darkness hide Thee,
Though the eye of sinful man Thy Glory may not see;
Thou alone art Holy; there is none beside
Perfect in power, in love, and purity!
Holy, Holy, Holy! LORD GOD Almighty! All Thy works shall praise Thee, in earth and sky and sea;
Holy, Holy, Holy! Merciful and Mighty! GOD in Three Persons, Blessed TRINITY!
AFTER THE SERMON.
74 HOLY, Holy, Holy LORD,
GCD the FATHER, GOD the WORD, GOD the COMFORTER, receive Blessings more than we can give. ONE, inexplicably THREE! ONE, in simplest UNITY!
LORD, incline Thy gracious Ear, While we sing Thy praises here.
Happy they who never rest, With Thy nearer Presence blest! They Thy brighter Glory see, They behold the DEITY!
Yet, with those beyond the sky,- Ever praising GOD most high,- We our feeble songs would raise, Echoing their eternal praise. Holy, Holy, Holy, LORD!
GOD the FATHER, GOD the WORD, GOD the SPIRIT, ONE and THREE!
Praise be sung by all to Thee. Amen.
The Sundays after Trinity.
AT MORNING PRAYER.
After the Third Collect.
75 THIS day, upon the new-born earth The light of heav'n was first shed forth:O GOD, to-day upon us shine,
And fill our souls with Light Divine !
This day, the SAVIOUR left the grave, And rose Omnipotent to save :- O JESU, may we raised be
From death in sin, to life in Thee!
This day, the HOLY GHOST first came Upon the Church, in tongues of flame :— O'SPIRIT, may Thy Grace, we pray, Be pour'd anew on us to-day!
O Day of light, and life, and grace,— Sweet pause in life's tumultuous race, Thy hallow'd hours, vouchsaf'd in love, We render back to GoD above.
All praise to GOD the FATHER Sing, All praise to CHRIST, our Heav'nly King; All praise, O HOLY GHOST, to Thee For ever and for ever be. Amen.
76BLEST Morn!-when earth'sCREATOR spoke, And darkness fled, and day awoke :- Blest Morn!--when, rising from the tomb, Our LORD dispell'd a deeper gloom.
Fountain of purity and light,
From darkness free our inward sight; And quench the flames of foul desire, That kindle hell's eternal fire.
O Hope of earth's remotest end, Thy pard'ning love to us extend, And raise us up with Thee to dwell, And evermore Thy praises tell. O HOLY FATHER, HOLY SON, And HOLY SPIRIT, THREE in ONE, Thy blessing humbly we implore, Thy Name be prais'd for evermore. Amen.
BEHOLD we come, great GOD, to Thee, And bow before Thy Throne ; We come to offer, on our knee, Our vows to Thee alone.
'Tis not our tongue or knee can pay
The mighty debt we owe;
Far more we should, than we can, say;
Far lower should we bow.
