Savoy, OR Old Hundredth. L.M.

GUIL. FRANC, 1545.

MODERN FORM.

A-men.

Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands.-Psa. c. 1.

f2 ALL people that on earth do dwell, f 3 O enter, then, His gates with praise,

Sing to the Lord with cheerful

[blocks in formation]

Approach with joy His courts unto;
Praise, laud, and bless His name always,
For it is seemly so to do.

4 For why? the Lord our God is good,
His mercy is for ever sure;

ff His truth at all times firmly stood,
And shall from age to age endure.
Amen.
W. KETHE, 1561.

Serve the Lord with gladness; come before His presence with singing.-Psa. c. 2.

mf 3 BEFORE Jehovah's awful throne

Ye nations bow with sacred joy;
Know that the Lord is God alone;
He can create and He destroy.

dim 2 His sovereign power, without our aid,
Made us of clay and formed us men;
And when, like wandering sheep, we
strayed,

He brought us to His fold again. cr 3 We are His people, we His care,

Our souls, and all our mortal frame:

What lasting honours shall we rear,
Almighty Maker, to Thy name?

f4 We'll crowdThy gates with thankful songs,
High as the heavens our voices raise :
And earth, with her ten thousand tongues
Shall fill Thy courts with sounding praise.
ef5 Wide as the world is Thy command;
Vast as eternity Thy love;
Firm as a rock Thy truth must stand,
When rolling years shall cease to move.
Amen.

Thy throne is established of old; Thou art from everlasting.-Psa. xciii. 2.

f5 WITH glory clad, with strength 3 The floods, O Lord, lift up their voice,

arrayed,

The Lord that o'er all nature reigns, The world's foundations strongly laid, And the vast fabric still sustains.

2 How surely stablished is Thy throne, Which shall no change or period see! For Thou, O Lord, and Thou alone, Art God from all eternity.

And toss their troubled waves on high;
But God above can still their noise,
And make the angry sea comply.

4 Thy promise, Lord, is ever sure,
And they that in Thy house would
That happy station to secure, [dwell,
Must still in holiness excel. Amen.

TATE AND BRADY.

[blocks in formation]

All Thy works shall praise Thee, O Lord; and Thy saints shall bless Thee.-Psa. cxlv. 10.

f7 ALL things praise Thee, Lord most

high,

Heaven and earth and sea and sky,
All were for Thy glory made,
That Thy greatness thus displayed
Should all worship bring to Thee;
All things praise Thee:-Lord, may we.

2 All things praise Thee-night to night dim Sings in silent hymns of light; f All things praise Thee-day to day Chants Thy power in burning ray; Time and space are praising Thee, All things praise Thee:-Lord, may we.

3 All things praise Thee-round her

zones

Earth, with her ten thousand tones,
Rolls a ceaseless choral strain,
Roaring wind, and deep-voiced main,
Rustling leaf, and humming bee,
All things praise Thee :-Lord, may we.

5 All things praise Thee-Heaven's high shrine

Rings with melody divine;
dim Lowly bending at Thy feet,

Seraph and archangel meet;
cr This their highest bliss to be
Ever praising:-Lord, may we.

4 All things praise Thee-high and low, f 6 All things praise Thee-gracious Lord,

O Lord my God, Thou art very great; Thou art clothed with honour and majesty.-Psa. civ. 1.

mf 90 WORSHIP the King,

All-glorious above;

O gratefully sing

His power and His love:
cr Our Shield and Defender,
The Ancient of Days,
Pavilioned in splendour,
And girded with praise.

f 2 O tell of His might,

O sing of His grace,
Whose robe is the light,
Whose canopy, space;
Whose chariots of wrath

The deep thunder-clouds form;

And dark is His path

On the wings of the storm.

mf 3 The earth with its store
Of wonders untold,
cr Almighty! Thy power
Hath founded of old;
Hath stablished it fast
By a changeless decree,
And round it hath cast,

Like a mantle, the sea.

mf 4 Thy bountiful care

What tongue can recite? It breathes in the air, It shines in the light, It streams from the hills, It descends to the plain, dim And sweetly distils

In the dew and the rain.

p 5 Frail children of dust, And feeble as frail,

cr In Thee do we trust,

Nor find Thee to fail;

mf Thy mercies how tender,
How firm to the end,
Our Maker, Defender,
Redeemer, and Friend!

f 6 O measureless might!
Ineffable love!
While angels delight

To hymn Thee above, The humbler creation, Though feeble their lays, ff With true adoration

Shall lisp to Thy praise. Amen.

SIR R. GRANT.
