THOU Lamb of God! whose bleeding love We thus recal to mind, Answer thy servants from above, And let us mercy find.
By all thine agonizing pain And bloody sweat we pray, And by thy dying love to man- O, take our sins away;
O, let thy blood, by faith apply'd, The sinner's pardon seal, Pronounce us freely justify'd
And all our sickness heal.
Hear us O Lord, who call on Thee; Our wearied souls release; Burst ev'ry bond and set us free; And bid us go in peace!
Taken from the 23rd Psalm.
THE Lord my pasture shall prepare, And feed me with a shepherd's care; His presence shall my wants supply, And guard me with a watchful eye, My noon-day walks He shall attend And all my midnight hours defend.
When in the sultry glebe I faint, Or on the thirsty mountain pant; To fertile vales and dewy meads My weary wand'ring steps He leads; Where peaceful rivers soft and slow, Amid the verdant landscape flow.
Though in the paths of death I tread, With gloomy horrors overspread, My steadfast heart shall fear no ill, For thou, O Lord, art with me still: Thy friendly crook will give me aid, And guide me through the dreadful shade.
Taken from the 117th Psalm.
FROM all that dwell below the skies, Let the Creator's praise arise; Let the Redeemer's name be sung Through ev'ry land, by ev'ry tongue.
Eternal are Thy mercies, Lord, Eternal truth attends Thy word!
Thy praise shall sound from shore to shore, Till suns shall rise and set no more.
Taken from the 148th Psalm.
PRAISE the Lord, ye heav'ns adore Him, Praise Him angels in the height: Sun and moon rejoice before Him Praise Him all ye stars and light.
Praise the Lord, for he hath spoken; Worlds His mighty voice obey'd; Laws, which never shall be broken, For their guidance hath He made.
Praise the Lord, for He is glorious; Never shall His promise fail; God hath made His saints victorious; Sin and death shall not prevail.
Praise the God of our salvation; Hosts on high His power proclaim; Heav'n, and earth, and all creation, Laud and magnify his name,
LORD of the sabbath, hear us pray, In this Thy house, on this Thy day; Accept, as grateful sacrifice,
The songs which from Thy temple rise
Now met to pray, and bless Thy name, Whose mercies flow each day the same, Whose kind compassions never cease;― We seek instruction, pardon, peace.
Thine earthly sabbaths, Lord, we love; But there's a nobler rest above; O, that we may that rest attain, From sin, from sorrow, and from pain.
