PSALM XXXIII, 1, 4, 6, 11.

LET all the just to God with joy
Their cheerful voices raise;
For well the righteous it becomes
To sing glad songs of praise.

2. Most faithful is the word of God,
His works with truth abound;
He justice loves, and all the earth
Is with his goodness crown'd.

3. By his almighty word at first
The heav'nly arch was rear'd,
And all the beauteous host of light
At his command appear'd.

4. Whate'er the mighty Lord decrees Shall stand for ever sure;

The settled purpose of his heart
To ages shall endure.

PSALM XXXIV.

PART I. 1, 2, 8, 9.

THROUGH all the changing scenes of life,
In trouble and in joy,

The praises of my God shall still
My heart and tongue employ.

2. Of his deliv'rance I will boast,
Till all that are distrest,

From my example comfort take,
And charm their griefs to rest,

3. O make but trial of his love,
Experience will decide,
How blest are they, and only they,
Who in his truth confide.

4. Fear him ye saints, and ye will then Have nothing else to fear;

delight,read

Make ye his service your delight,
Your wants will be his care.

PSALM XXXIV

PART II. 15, 16, 17, 22.

THE Lord from heav'n beholds the just
With favourable eyes;
And, when distrest, his gracious ear
Is open to their cries.

2. But turns his wrathful look on those Whom mercy can't reclaim;

To cut them off and from the earth
Blot out their hated name.

3. Deliv'rance to his saints he gives,
When his relief they crave;
He's nigh to heal the broken heart,
And contrite spirits save.

5. He will preserve the souls of those
Who on his truth depend;

To them and their posterity
His blessings shall descend.

PSALM XXXIV.

PART III.

THEE will I thank, my God, my stay, Thee will I praise from day to day; From morn to eve the song extend, Thee boast my father, thee my friend.

2. O come your voice triumphant raise,
And sing with me your maker's praise!
O taste with me, O taste and prove
The blessings of his boundless love.

3. Hail, Saviour of the human race!
Hail, fountain of eternal grace!
Thrice happy who on thee recline,
Nor own, nor ask a help but thine.

4. 'Tis thine our souls from woes to free, Nor time throughout his course shall see The man whose hope on thee is stay'd; Neglected mourn thy absent aid,

PSALM XXXVI.

FOR ever, Lord, thy justice stands
As mountains their foundations keep;
Great are the wonders of thy hands;
Thy judgments are a mighty deep.

2. Thy providence the world upholds ; Both man and beast thy bounty share ; All nature, thee its Lord beholds,

But man is thy peculiar care.

3. My God! how excellent thy grace,
Whence all our hope, our comforts spring;
We, with our weak and guilty race,
Fly to the shadow of thy wing.

4. O let thy people favour gain !
To upright hearts thy truth display!
With thee the wells of life remain ;
Thy presence is eternal day.
