bestow on me, I give and dispose thereof as follows: First, I will that my debts and funeral charges be paid and discharged. October the 9th day 1757.

Item. I give unto my son John Goodwin six negroes, Caesar that I bought of Thomas Wells, Hannah in Louisa with her three girls, that is with her and her boy Bristol, to him and his heirs forever; also I give him one hundred pounds current money and my silver helted sword and pistols.

Item. I give unto my son Peter Goodwin my land in King Wm. county to him and his heirs forever. Also I give him six negroes, Jack that I bought of Burras; Tom at Louisa; Sue that came from my Mother's; Caesar Sealed and Charles that lives with him. And all that belongs to me on the plantation only Liddy & George to him

Item. I give unto my son Rob't Goodwin the half of my land in Louisa, half the water mill and five negroes to him and his heirs forever, viz, Paul, Jack, James, Will and Phillis's youngest child Betty. Also I give him a bed & furniture, that is a pair of sheets, Blanket and Rug and Bedstead; also I give him half my stock of all sorts that is on the Plantation at my death.

Item. I give unto my son James Goodwin the other half of my land in Louisa and the other half of my water mill and five negroes, viz., Sawney, Frank, old Peter, young

Item. I give unto my daughter Elizabeth Goodwin two negroes, viz., Amy and Phillis's boy James in Louisa to her and her heirs forever and two hundred pounds current money with one bed and furniture to be in the hands of my loving wife till she cometh of age or marrieth.

Item. I give unto my daughter Rachel Goodwin two negroes, viz., Maria & Tennatez to her and her heirs forever, with two hundred pounds and one bed and furniture to be in the hands of my loving wife til she come of age or marrieth.

Item. I lend unto Anne Chisman two young negroes, viz., Charles and Phillis to wait on her so long as she liveth, and at her death for her to dispose of them among my children as she shall think fit.

Item. My will is that after my debts and legacies are taken out that the rest of my Estate I leave in the hands of my loving wife Elizabeth Goodwin for her to dispose

From Mr. Andrew Sea, a lawyer of Louisville, Ky., and a descendant, I have the following data. He has been collecting it, he says, for about twenty years, partly from individuals, partly from isolated

The rest of my estate be valued and divided between my wife and six daughters Rebecca G., Elizabeth G. Diana G. Rachel G. Mary Moss and Anna Chisman I do make ordain constitute and appoint my loving wife Elizabeth Goodwin to be my sole Executrix of this my last will and testament revoking all the others wills by me heretofore made, either by word or writing. In witness whereof I have set my hand & seal this year and date fixed above written.
