This evening, at 7 o'clock, an Inqueft was held at the Marquis of Granby, Caftle-ftreet, Oxford-market, on the body of M. le Comte de Feutiere, formerly a Colonel of diftinguished merit, in the fervice of Louis XVI. who was found dead the preceeding day, at his apartments, No. 59, in the fame ftreet. Agnes Laura, who attended about the perfon of the deceafed for the last three weeks, depofed, that he had been ill about a fortnight; that he was about a week confined to his room; but on Monday, Feb. 29, finding himself fomewhat better than he had been, he gave the witnefs permiffion to go home to her family until the following afternoon. She did fo; and, upon her return, found the door faftened; the knocked and called repeatedly, but received no answer. By the advice of the landlady of the house, The brought the Marquis de Fitz-James, an intimate friend of the deceased, to the houfe. He fent for a fmith, and had the door broken open. The deceased was then feen with his cloaths on, fitting up in his chair, with his head refting on one shoulder. His hand and ftomach were warm. Sticks were laid in the grate for lighting a fire, but it was not lighted; a mouldcandle was found to be burnt out, as it tood upon the hearth, There was no

appearance of violence whatever, by which the cause of death could be even furmised. Nicholas Daniel, a Frenchman, and J. Homer, the landlord of the houfe in which the deceafed had lodged, corroborated the teftimony of the former witnefs. Verdict, Died by the Vifitation of God.

5. In Gloucefter-place, Portman-square, Lady Martin, relict of Sir Henry M. bart. late comptroller of the Navy.

Burnt to death, at the house of her aunt, in Hampstead road, a young lady named Sefton. She was fitting alone, in the back parlour, waiting the return of a lodger, when the fire caught her dress, it is fuppofed, while dozing. Her fhrieks alarmed her aunt, who had retired; but, on coming to her relief, fhe found her infenfible, and the expired before medical aid could be procured.

At his houfe in Park-lane, George Damer, Earl of Dorchester, Viscount Milton, Baron Milton of Milton Abbey, in Dorsetshire, and Baron Milton of Shronehill, in Ireland, lord lieutenant and cuftos rotulorum of the county of Dorfet, and a privy counsellor in Ireland. His Lordship was born March 28, 1746, the fecond fon of Jofeph firft Earl of Dorchefter, by the Lady Caroline, only daughter of Lionel Duke of Dorfet; and fucceeded to the earldom on his father's decease, in 1798, his elder brother, John, having died iffuelefs in 1776. The Earl leaving no iffue, the titles of Earl of Dorchefter, Viscount Milton,

Milton, and Baron Milton of Milton Abbey, become extinct, as alfo the honour of Baron Milton of Shrone-hili in Ireland, being the eighth Irish peerage which has become eftinét fince the Union. His Lordship was fecretary to Earl Fitzwilliam in Ireland; and enjoyed in an eminent degree the private friendship of their Majefties. He is fucceeded in the eftates by his only fifter, the Lady Caroline Damer; on whofe deceate they devolve to the Earl of Portarlington, whole grandmother, Mary Damer, Vifcounters Carlow, was fifter to the firft Lord Dorchefter.

In Sloane-fquare, agcd 19, the wife of D. French, efq. barrifter; and, on the fame day, Francis, their fon, aged 11 months.

7. Suddenly, Sir Giles Rooke, knt. one of the juftices of his Majesty's Court of Common Pleas; a profound lawyer, and much refpected. He had long been in an ill ftate of health.

In Grofvenor-fquare, aged 82, the widow of the late Charles Allanfon, efq. of Branham Biggin, co. York, and daughter of the late William Aiflabie, efq. of Studley Royal, in the fame county.

9. In child-bed, the wife of Mr. Pace, miller, of Cuckfield, Suffex.

10. At Arkindale, co. York, in his 45th year, after much illnefs, Anthony Wation, agent, and one of the Society of Friends.

Mr. Lowe, of Covent-garden, diftiller and wine-merchant. He dropped down in the bar of the New York coffee-houfe, and inftantly expired.

At his lodgings in Bath, Wm. Siddons, efq.hufband of the juftly-celebrated Actress, who was performing at Edinburgh at the time. Though long an invalid, his diffolation may be faid to have been fudden, as he had paffed the preceding evening with a circle of friends in his ufual focial and pleasant manner, and feemingly in better health than he had long before enjoyed. He has left three children: a daughter, a fon in the Eaft Indies, and Mr. H. Siddons, of Drury-lane theatre; and has bequeathed 4000l. to the former, and the bulk of his fortune to his wife, probably because, as it was acquired by her labours, he confidered her as beit entitled to it.

12. George Gregory, D. D. F. S. A. domeftic chaplain to the Bishop of Landaff, prebendary of St. Paul's, vicar of West Ham, lecturer of St. Giles, Cripplegate, and fome time preacher at the

Foundling Hofpital; who, by his learning and induftry, had acquired much celebrity. His first publication, a volume of Effays, hiftorical and moral, 1785," was anonymous; but, being favourably received, he acknowledged them in a fecond edition. To a volume of Sermons, 1787, are prefixed "Thoughts on the Compofition and Delivery of a Sermon." In 1768 he published a "Tranflation of Bishop Lowth's Lectures on the Poetry of the Hebrews," 2 vols. 8vo; a "Life of Thomas Chatterton, with Criticifms on his Genius and Writings, and a concife View of the Controverfy concerning Rowley's Poems, 1789," svo; a revifed edition of Dr. Hawkefworth's Telemachus, with a new Life of Fenelon, 1795, in 2 vols. 4to; a Continuation of Hume's Hiftory of England, 1795, 8vo; "The (Economy of Nature explained and illuftrated, on the Principles of modern Philofophy," 1796, 3 vols. 8vo; "Leffons, aftroHomical and philofophical, for the Inftruction of British Youth, 1797," 12mo; "The Elements of a polite Education, carefully felected from the Letters of Lord Chesterfield to his Son, 1801," 12mo. For many years he had been an active and zealous friend to the Royal Humane Society. He preached an excellent Sermon at their Anniverfary in 1707 (LXVII. 660) on the prevention of Suicide; volunteered his fervices as a fleward in 1805; and in 1807 gave the ufe of Weft Ham church, when Mr.Yates re-preached the Anniversary Sermon, noticed in p. 139. He excelled in a knowledge of Mechanicks; and was an extremely useful member of the feveral Committees of the Humane Society, which at various times have been appointed to determine the prizes awarded to the inventors of the beft mode of preferving the lives of fhipwrecked mariners. On the death of Dr. Kippis, he engaged with the Bookfellers to proceed with the "Biographia Britannica;" but a variety of circumftances prevented its progrefs, till at length the fixth volume (to which Dr. Gregory had written a Preface) was unfortunately confumed (p. 99). He was for feveral years the conductor of the "New Annual Begifter," on principles oppofite to that published by Mr. Dodfley; which, during the administration of Mr. Addington, he had the addrefs to change to a minifterial work; a circumftance by which, it is fuppofed, he obtained the vicarage of Weft Ham, where he has fince refided, as a refpectable parish pricft, without any extraordinary exertion of literary talent beyond that of editing a new "Cyclopædia;" for which, by his original courfe of ftudy, he was well qualified, and in which fuch articles as are original are entitled to commendation. 13. 13. Suddenly, Chriftian VII. King of Denmark, brother-in-law of our revered King, having married, in 1766, the Princefs Carolina-Matilda, whofe unfortunate hiftory, generally attributed to the enmity of her Step-mother and the weaknefs of her Royal Hufband, has been long a fubject of regret in this country. The Crown Prince was proclaimed on the 16th, by the title of Frederick the VIth.

In Bond-ftreet, JohnPybus, efq. an eminent banker, and amiable and accomplish ed man. He was educated at Oxford, and afterwards traveled all over the Continent, and cultivated his love of the Fine Arts with great affiduity. He has left a widow and four children. Mis. Pybus is the youngest daughter of the late A. M'Donnell, efq. linen-merchant, of the Linenhall at Dublin.

In his 83d year, Thomas Cater, efq. of Bread-ftreet, Cheapfide, father of the Worthipful Company of Apothecaries.

14. In Newman-ftreet, Oxford-ftreet, in his 76th year, the Rev. Philip Du Val, D.D. F.R. and A.SS. one of the canons of Windfor, and vicar of Twickenham, Middlefex. He was many years fecretary, treasurer, and domeftic chaplain to his late Royal Highness the Duke of Gloucefter, and fome time preceptor to the prefent Duke. He married, 1772, Anna, daughter of the late Dr. William George, provoft of, King's college, Cambridge, by

whom he had no iffue.

At his feat, Lady-place, Hurley, Berks, in confequence of an apoplectic fit, with which he was feized on the 12th, Guftavus Adolphus Kempenfelt, efq. the only furviving brother of the late unfortunate Rear-admiral K. who loft his life in the Royal George, at Spithead, in 1782. preferved all his mental faculties to the laft, although arrived at the age of 87. He was many years a vice-prefident and a warm friend of the Royal Humane Society; to which, by his last will, he has given 1000l.; and the like fum to the Marine Society, and to fome other public Charities. Dying a bachelor, his eftates and refidue of his perfonal property devolve to his neareft relation, Rd. Troughton, efq. of the Cuftom-houfe, London.

15. The wife of Jofeph Wright, efq. of Chace fide, Enfield, Middlefex.

In the palace at Hampton Court, aged 74, the Hon. Jane Carey, daughter of Lur cius-Charles fixth Viscount Falkland.

16. Near Uxbridge, the Rev. James Palmer, M. A. of Oriel college, Oxford. He was killed on the fpot, by a fall from his horfe. He was a man who poffeffed a mind highly liberal, an understanding well cultivated, and manners extremely prepoffeffing. A. ftrict attention to his clerical duties marked moft ftrongly the confcientious principles upon which he uniformly acted.

In his 69th year, Jofeph Bonomi, efq. the artift, and an affociate of the Royal Academy; who was particularly diftinguifhed for his architectural knowledge and genius. He was a native of Italy, but had been long in this country.

At Kennington, after a lingering illness,' Henry Shepherd, efq. many years a member of the Common Council; till in 1796 he was elected water-bailiff of the City of London.

17. At Shute-houfe, Devon, aged 20, Sophia-Anne, the lady of Sir Wm. Pole, bart. only daugh. of George Templer, efq. Byers, a fhipwright in the dock-yard at Porrfmouth. He was married in the morning, and died fuddenly in the courfe of the night.

18. In Great Cumberland-ftreet, the relict of the late Charles Watkins Meysey, efq. of Shakenhurft, co. Worcester.

At Stockwell, Surrey, of an apoplectic ftroke, the wife of Mr. John Ogdin, of Upper Thames-ftreet.

19. Mr. Philip Barton, of the Strand. At the house of her fon, in Ely-place, Holborn, the wife of the Rev. Thomas Mills, vicar of Hillingdon, Middlesex.
