Join the triumphs of the skies;
With the angelic host proclaim

Christ, the everlasting Lord:
Late in time behold him come,
Offspring of a Virgin's womb!

"Veil'd in flesh the Godhead see!

Hail the incarnate Deity!

Hail the Sun of Righteousness!

Light and life to all he brings,

Risen with healing on his wings!"

FIRST LESSON, Morning, Isaiah, xxxvii. EVENING LESSON, Isaiah, Xxxviii.

"Hail joyful tidings! heavenly sound!
Attend! ye grateful nations round,
And hear the triumphs of his birth
Who brings salvation to the earth;
For this the glorious truth they tell —
Emmanuel comes with man to dwell.

"The time is come by prophets told,
Events their sacred truths unfold;
The joy of heaven to earth belongs,
Angels with men unite their songs,
And this the harmonious concord swells-
On earth redeemed, Emmanuel dwells.

"Hear him, ye deaf,-ye blind, behold!
Ye weak, be strong,-ye timid, bold;
'To weep, ye drooping mourners, cease,
The child of suffering whispers peace!
His voice each woe and sorrow quells-
Emmanuel with his people dwells.

"Hear him, ye heavens; attend, ye skies!
Sink down, ye hills; rise, valleys, rise!
Ye rugged mountains, bow the head!
Ye clouds, as heaven's rich curtains spread,
To all creation gladly tell-

On earth Emmanuel deigns to dwell."
