2 His comforts bear my spirits up,
I trust a faithful God;
The sure foundation of my hope
Lies in a Saviour's blood.

3 Loud hallelujahs sing, my soul,
To thy Redeemer's name;
In joy, in sorrow, life and death,
His love is still the same.

HYMN 231. (C. M.)

The love of Christ, which passeth knowledge.

BE

EHOLD! what love the Father hath
On guilty man bestowed;

That we,

lost sinners, sons of wrath, Should be the sons of God.

2 O how beyond expression great, The love of Christ doth shine; "Tis like himself-th' eternal God, Past knowledge! all divine.

3 Behold! for guilty, ruin'd man
The Lord of Glory dies;

Lays down his life them to redeem,
A precious sacrifice!

4 Peace and goodwill to guilty men,
In plenteous streams now flow;
And joy and hope of endless life,
God doth, through Christ, bestow.
5 O! let us, then, renew the theme
Which still prevails above;
And ever sing, with joyful hearts,
The wonders of his love.

PRAISE the name of God most high:

Praise him all below the sky;

Praise Him, all ye heavenly host;
Father, Son, and Holy Ghost!

VII. (P. M.)

LEST Lamb of God, with grateful praise,
Our voices high to Thee we raise;
In heaven to reign redeemed by blood,
We kings and priests are made to God.
Strike, strike your harps, ye ransom'd sing,
Loud hallelujahs to our king,

While every nation, tongue, and tribe.
Strength, glory, might to Him ascribe.
Amen. Amen.

Saviour,

Amen.

CONCLUDING HYMNS.

MAY

I. (P. M.)

of Christ our Saviour,

the grace
And the Father's boundless love,

With the Holy Spirit's favour,

Rest upon us from above!

Thus may we abide in union,
With each other and the Lord;
And possess, in sweet communion,
Joys which earth cannot afford.

TH

II. (P. M.)

HANKS, and praise, and adoration,
For the Gospel's joyful sound!

Let the fruits of Christ's salvation
In our hearts and lives abound;
May we ever,

To the truth be faithful found.

III. (P. M.)

VOUCHSAFE, Almighty Lord!
Το every heart thy grace :

That there thy sacred word
May find a fruitful place:

May we who in this temple meet,

In heaven surround thy mercy-seat!

THA

IV. (D. L. M.)

THANKS for thy house of prayer, O Lord!
Thanks for thy day, and for thy Word,

For all the means which Thou hast given
Of knowing Thee, and gaining heaven.
The Sabbath ended, now we seek
Thy blessing on us through the week:
Let all its days with Thee begin,
That each may prove a rest from sin.

V. (L. M.)

ALMIGHTY Father! bless the word

Which through thy grace we now have heard:

1

O may the precious seed take root,
Spring up and bear abundant fruit.

2 We praise Thee for the means of grace,
Thus in thy courts to seek thy face;
Grant, Lord, that all who worship here
May, saved from sin, in heaven appear.
VI. (C. M.)

AGAIN our ears have heard the voice

[ocr errors]

Which bids the dying live;

may the sound our hearts rejoice,
And hope immortal give.

2 And have we heard the word with joy?
And have we felt its power?

1

To keep it, then, be our employ,
Till life's remotest hour.

L

VII. (P. M.)

ORD dismiss us with thy blessing,
Fill our hearts with joy and peace;

Let us each, thy love possessing,
Triumph in redeeming grace;
O refresh us,

Travelling thro' this wilderness.

2 And whene'er the signal's given,
Us from earth to call away;
Borne on Angel's wings to heaven,
Glad the summons to obey;
May we ever,

1

Reign with Christ in endless day.

VIII. (L. M.)

HIS God is the God we adore,

THIS

Our faithful unchangeable friend;
