Jesus reigns, and heaven rejoices;
Jesus reigns, the God of love!
Well may angels loudly sing
GLORY, GLORY TO OUR KING!

2 Christians come, unite your praises
With the angels round the throne:
Soon, we hope, our Lord will raise us
To the place where He is gone.
Meet it is that we should sing
GLORY, GLORY to our King!
3 Saviour, hasten thine appearing;
Bring, O bring, the glorious day,
When, the awful summons hearing,
Heaven and earth shall pass away!
Then with golden harps we'll sing
GLORY, GLORY TO OUR KING!

1

HYMN 162. (C. M)

The Reign of Grace.

NOW may the Lord reveal his face,
And teach our falt'ring tongues

To make his sov'reign, reigning Grace
The subject of our songs.

2 No sweeter subject can invite

A sinner's heart to sing,

Or more display the glorious might

Of our exalted King.

3 Grace reigns to pardon all our sins,
To melt the hardest hearts;

And from the work it once begins
It never more departs.

4 Lord, when this changing life is past,
If we but see thy face;
How shall we praise and love at last,
And sing the reign of Grace!

HYMN 163. (C. M.)

Fulness of Grace.

LORD, we adore thy boundless Grace,
The heights and depths unknown,

Of pardon, life, and joy and peace,
In thy beloved Son.

2 O, wondrous gift of love divine!
Dear source of ev'ry good!
Jesus! in thee what glories shine!
How precious is thy blood!

3 Come, all ye needy, hungry poor,
The Saviour's bounty taste:
Behold a never-failing store
For ev'ry willing guest.

4 There shall your ev'ry want receive
A free and full supply;
He has unmeasur'd bliss to give,
And joys that never die.

HYMN 164. (C. M.)

Humiliation of Jesus.

1 SAVIOUR of men, and Lord of love, How lovely is thy Name!

With joy that errand we review
On which thy mercy came.

2 While all thine own angelic bands
Stood waiting on the wing,
Charm'd with the honor to obey
Their great eternal King;-

3 For us mean, wretched, sinful
Thou laid'st thy glory by;

men,

First in our mortal flesh to serve,
Then in that flesh-to die!

4 Bought with thy service and thy blood,
We doubly, Lord, are thine;
To Thee our lives we would devote,
To Thee our death resign.

HYMN 165. (L. M.)

Christ most precious.

HEN I survey the wondrous cross,
On which the Prince of glory died,
My richest gain I count my loss,
And pour contempt on all my pride.
2 Forbid it, Lord, that I should boast,
Save in the death of Christ my God:
All the vain things that charm me most,
I sacrifice them to his blood.

3 See! from his head, his hands, his feet,
Sorrow and love flow mingled down!
Did e'er such love and sorrow meet,
Or thorns compose so rich a crown !
4 Were the whole realm of nature mine,
That were an off 'ring far too small :
Love, so amazing, so divine,
Demands my life, my soul, my all!

HYMN 166. (L. M.)

Praise for Salvation.

NOW to the Lord, who makes us know
The wonders of his pard'ning love,

Be humble honours paid below,

And strains of nobler praise above.

2 "Tis He forgives our greatest sins, Cleansing our souls with precious blood; "Tis he that makes us priests and kings, And brings us rebels near to God. 3 To Jesus, our atoning Priest, To Jesus, our exalted King, Be everlasting power confess'd, Let ev'ry tongue his glory sing!

HYMN 167. (7's.)

Jesus our Refuge and Helper.

1JESU, lover of my soul,

Let me to thy bosom fly,

While the threat'ning billows roll,
While the tempest still is high;

2 Hide me, O my Saviour, hide,
Till the storm of life is past;
Safe into the haven guide:
O, receive my soul at last!

3 All my trust on Thee is stay'd;
All my help from Thee I bring;
Cover my defenceless head
With the shadow of thy wing.

5 Plenteous grace with Thee is found;
Grace to pardon all my sin:
Let the healing stream abound :
Make and keep me pure within.
6 Thou of life the fountain art;
Freely let me take of Thee:
Spring thou up within my heart,
Rise to all eternity!

HYMN 168. (C. M.)

Blessedness of Believers.

HAPPY are they, to whom the Lord

His gracious Name makes known,

And by his Spirit and his Word

Adopts them for his own!

2 He calls them to his mercy seat,
And hears their humble prayer;
And when within his house they meet
They find his presence near.

3 The strength of their united cries
No power can long withstand;
For Jesus helps them from the skies
By his almighty hand.

4 Then mountains sink at once to plains,
And light from darkness springs;
Each seeming loss improves their gains,
Each trouble comfort brings.

5 Tho' men despise them, or revile,
They count the trial small;

Whoever frowns, if Jesus smile,
It makes amends for all.
