Worthy art Thou o'er us to reign, Thou who for us didst not disdain 25. Now, gracious Lord, Thine arm reveal, And soften hearts of stone. Help us to venture near Thy throne, From all the guilt of former sin Send down Thy Spirit from above, And sinners now may learn to love, 26. FOR Thy mercy and Thy grace, Amen. C.M. 78. In our weakness and distress, Rock of strength, be Thou our stay; In the pathless wilderness Be our true and living way. Whosoe'er death's awful road In the coming year shall tread, With Thy rod and staff, O God, Comfort Thou his dying bed. Say, shall we yield Him, in costly devotion, Vainly we offer each ample oblation, Vainly with gifts would His favour secure: Richer by far is the heart's adoration, Dearer to God are the prayers of the poor. 29. O THOU who by a star didst guide Although by stars Thou dost not lead As yet we know Thee but in part, O Saviour, give us then Thy grace That we may see Thee face to face 30. Amen. WHAT star is this, with beams so bright, See now fulfill'd what God decreed, While outward signs the star displays, C.M. L.M. True love can brook no dull delay, Oh, while the star of heavenly grace To God the Father, God the Son, 31. Amen. BRIGHT was the guiding star that led, With mild benignant ray, The Gentiles to the lowly shed, Where the Redeemer lay. C.M. But lo! a brighter, clearer light, O haste, to follow where it leads; Be rugged wilds, or flowery meads, O gladly tread the narrow path, |
