The Lord's Prayer

[ocr errors]

UR FATHER WHICH ART IN HEAVEN, HAL

LOWED BE THY NAME, THY KINGDOM COME, THY WILL BE DONE IN EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN ; GIVE US THIS DAY OUR DAILY BREAD, AND FORGIVE US OUR DEBTS, AS

WE FORGIVE OUR DEBTORS ; AND LEAD US

NOT INTO TEMPTATION, BUT DELIVER US FROM EVIL; FOR THINE IS THE KINGDOM, AND THE POWER, AND THE GLORY, FOR EVER. AMEN.

Also No. 918 set to a chant.

Tbe Commandments

I OD spake all these words, saying, I am

the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

I. - Thou shalt have no other gods before Me.

II. - Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth : thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them : for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me ; and showing mercy, unto thousands of them that love Me, and keep My commandments.

III. Thou shalt not take the Name of the Lord thy God in vain ; for the Lord will

( 691 )

not hold him guiltless that taketh His Name in vain.

IV. — Remember the Sabbath-day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work : but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God ; in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy man-servant, nor thy maid-servant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates ; for in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath-day, and hallowed it.

V. - Honor thy father and thy mother : that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.

VI. — Thou shalt not kill.
VII. — Thou shalt not commit adultery.
VIII. - Thou shalt not steal.

IX. — Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor.

X. — Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's wife, nor his man-servant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbor's.

Musical responses No. 919.

Hear also what our Lord Jesus Christ saith: Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it: Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

HYMN.

524
735

A charge to keep I have...
A few more years shall roll.
A glory gilds the sacred page

See 'i'he Spirit breathes upon the word.
A hymn of glory let us sing:
A mighty fortress is our God.
A parting hymn we sing..
A pilgrim and a stranger, I journey.
A voice by Jordan's shore..
Abide with me: fast falls the even-tide.
Above the clear blue sky......
According to Thy gracious word..
Again as evening's shadow falls.
Again returns the day of holy rest.
Again the Lord's own day is here.
Again the morn of gladness..
Ah! the heart that has forsaken.
Alas! and did my Saviour bleed.
All glory, laud, and honor..
All hail the power of Jesus' name.
All is bright and cheerful round us.
All my heart this night rejoices..
All people that on earth do dwell..
All praise to Thee, eternal Lord..
All praise to Thee, my God, this night
Alleluia! Alleluia! hearts to heaven.
Alleluia! fairest morning..
Alleluia! sing to Jesus...
Alleluia! song of sweetness..
Alleluia! The strife is o'er..
Almighty Father, bless the word.
Almighty Father, heaven and earth.
Almighty God, Thy word is cast..
Am I a soldier of the cross..
And now the wants are told.
Angels, from the realms of glory.
Angels, roll the rock away.
Another six days' work is done.
Approach, my soul, the mercy seat.
Arise, O King of Grace, arise
Arm these Thy soldiers, mighty Lord.
Around the throne of God in heaven.
Art thou weary, art thou languid..
