In Excelsis

L. M.

PRAISE God, from whom all blessings flow;
Praise Him, all creatures here below;
Praise Him above, ye heav'nly host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

T. Ken.

L. M.

ALL people that on earth do dwell,
Sing to the Lord with cheerful voice:
Him serve with mirth, His praise forth tell,
Come ye before Him and rejoice.

2 Know that the Lord is God indeed;
Without our aid He did us make:
We are his flock, He doth us feed,

And for His sheep He doth us take.

3 Oh, enter then His gates with praise,
Approach with joy His courts unto;
Praise, laud, and bless His name always,
For it is seemly so to do.

4 For why? the Lord our God is good,
His mercy is for ever sure;

His truth at all times firmly stood,
And shall from age to age endure.

5 To Father, Son, and Holy Ghost,

The God whom heaven and earth adore, From men and from the angel-host,

Be praise and glory evermore.

W. Kethe.

3

FROM all that dwell below the skies,
Let the Creator's praise arise:
Let the Redeemer's praise be sung
Through every land, by every tongue.

2 Eternal are Thy mercies, Lord!
Eternal truth attends Thy word;

Thy praise shall sound from shore to shore
Till suns shall rise and set no more.

WORSHIP, honor, glory, blessing,
Lord, we offer unto Thee;

I. Watts.

8s, 7s. 81.

Young and old Thy praise confessing,
In glad homage bend the knee.
As the saints in heav'n adore Thee,
We would bow before Thy throne;
As thine angels serve before Thee,
So on earth Thy will be done.

E. Osler.

8s, 7s. 81.

CROWN His head with endless blessing,
Who, in God the Father's name,
With compassion never ceasing,
Comes salvation to proclaim.
Lo, Jehovah, we adore Thee,

Thee, our Saviour, Thee, our God;
From Thy throne Thy beams of glory
Shine through all the world abroad.

2 Jesus, Thee our Saviour healing,
Thee our God in praise we own;
Highest honors, never failing,
Rise eternal round Thy throne.

6

Now, ye saints, His power confessing,
In your grateful strains adore;
For His mercy, never ceasing,
Flows, and flows for evermore.

PLEASANT are Thy courts above,
In the land of light and love;
Pleasant are Thy courts below
In this land of sin and woe.
Oh, my spirit longs and faints
For the converse of Thy saints,
For the brightness of Thy face,
For Thy fulness, God of grace!

W. Goode.

2 Happy birds that sing and fly
Round Thy altars, O Most High!
Happier souls that find a rest
In a heav'nly Father's breast!
Like the wand'ring dove that found
No repose on earth around,
They can to their ark repair
And enjoy it ever there.

3 Happy souls! their praises flow
Even in this vale of woe;
Waters in the desert rise,

7s. 81.

Manna feeds them from the skies;
On they go from strength to strength
Till they reach Thy throne at length;
At Thy feet adoring fall,

Who hast led them safe through all.

4 Lord, be mine this prize to win,
Guide me through a world of sin;
Keep me by Thy saving grace,
Give me at Thy side a place ;

7

Sun and shield alike Thou art,
Guide and guard my erring heart;
Grace and glory flow from Thee,
Shower, oh, shower them, Lord, on me!
H. F. Lyte.

10,10,11,11.

Он, worship the King all-glorious above; Oh, gratefully sing His power and His love; Our shield and defender, the Ancient of Days,

Pavilioned in splendor, and girded with praise.

2 Oh, tell of His might, oh, sing of His grace! Whose robe is the light, whose canopy, space.

His chariots of wrath the deep thunderclouds form,

And dark is His path on the wings of the storm.

3 The earth, with its store of wonders untold, Almighty, Thy power hath founded of old, Hath 'stablished it fast by a changeless decree,

And round it hath cast, like a mantle, the

sea.

4 Thy bountiful care, what tongue can recite ? It breathes in the air, it shines in the light, It streams from the hills, it descends to the plain,

And sweetly distils in the dew and the rain.

5 Frail children of dust, and feeble as frail, In Thee do we trust, nor find Thee to fail. Thy mercies how tender! how firm to the end!

Our maker, defender, Redeemer, and friend!

6 O measureless Might! ineffable Love! While angels delight to hymn Thee above, The humbler creation, though feeble their lays,

8

With true adoration shall lisp to Thy praise.

R. Grant. 10,10,11,11

YE servants of God, your Master proclaim,
And publish abroad His wonderful name;
The name all-victorious of Jesus extol;
His kingdom is glorious, He rules over all.

2 God ruleth on high, almighty to save,
And still He is nigh-His presence we have;
The great congregation His triumph shall sing,
Ascribing salvation to Jesus our King.

3 "Salvation to God, who sits on the Throne,"
Let all cry aloud and honor the Son:
The praises of Jesus the angels proclaim,
Fall down on their faces and worship the Lamb.

4 Then let us adore and give Him His right,
All glory and power, all wisdom and might,
All honor and blessing, with angels above,
And thanks never ceasing for infinite Love.
C. Wesley.

P. M. (11,12,12,10, Irregular)

HOLY, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty! Early in the morning our song shall rise to Thee;

Holy, holy, holy! merciful and mighty! God in Three Persons, blessèd Trinity!

2 Holy, holy, holy! all the saints adore Thee, Casting down their golden crowns around the glassy sea,
