2 Repentant sorrow fills my heart,
But mingling joy allays the smart;
Oh! may my future life declare
The sorrow and the joy sincere.
3 Be all my heart, and all my days
Devoted to my Saviour's praise;
And let my glad obedience prove
How much lowe-how much I love.

Reconciliation by Christ's Death.

AND are we now brought near to God,
Who once at distance stood?
Did Jesus, to effect this change,
Pour out his precious blood?

2 Oh for a song of ardent praise,
To bear our souls above!
What should allay our lively hope,
Or damp our flaming love!

3 Then let us join the heavenly choirs,
To praise our glorious King!

Oh may that love which spread this feast
Inspire us while we sing!

Pardon and Peace implored.

LAMB of God! whose bleeding love

We now recall to mind,

Send the answer from above,

And let us mercy find:

Think on us, who think on thee;

Every burdened soul release;

Oh remember Calvary,

And bid us go in peace!

2 By thine agonizing pain,
And bloody sweat, we pray-
By thy dying love to man,
Take all our sins away:
Burst our bonds, and set us free,
From all sin do thou release;
Oh remember Calvary,

And bid us go in peace!

3 Through thy blood, by faith applied,
Let sinners pardon feel;
Speak us freely justified,

And all our sickness heal:
By thy passion on the tree,

Let our griefs and troubles cease;
Oh remember Calvary,

And bid us go in peace!

Privileges of Adoption.

BLESSED are the sons of God;
They are bought with Jesus' blood;
They are ransomed from the grave-
Life eternal they shall have:
With them numbered may we be,
Here, and in eternity.

2 They are justified by grace;
They enjoy the Saviour's peace;
All their sins are washed away;
They shall stand in God's great day :
With them numbered may we be,
Here, and in eternity.

3 They produce the fruits of grace,
In the works of righteousness;
They are harmless, meek, and mild,
Holy, blameless, undefiled:

With them numbered may we be,
Here, and in eternity.

4 They are lights upon the earth,
Children of a heavenly birth;
One with God, with Jesus one;
Glory is in them begun:

With them numbered may we be,
Here, and in eternity.

7s & 6s.

Backslider's Thanks for renewed Pardon.
LORD, and is thine anger gone,
And art thou pacified?

After all that I have done,

Dost thou no longer chide?

2 Let thy love my heart constrain,
And all my restless passions sway:
Keep me, lest I turn again,
From out the narrow way.
3 As the apple of thine eye,
Thy weakest servant keep;
Help me at thy feet to lie,
And there forever weep:
4 Tears of joy mine eyes o'erflow,
That I have any hope of heaven:
Much of love I ought to know,
For I have much forgiven.

Vigor and Watchfulness in the Christian Warfare. SOLDIERS of Christ, arise,

Now put your armor on,

Strong in the strength which God supplies,

Through his eternal Son;

Strong in the Lord of Hosts,
And in his mighty power;
He, who in his Redeemer trusts,
Is more than conqueror.

2 Stand, then, in his great might,
With all his strength endued;
Take ye, to arm you for the fight,
The panoply of God.

Then, when your work is done,
And all your conflicts past,

Ye shall o'ercome, through Christ alone,
And stand entire at last.

3 Stand, then, against your foes,
In close and firm array;
Legions of wily fiends oppose,
Throughout the evil day :
But meet the sons of night,
Oppose their vain design,
Armed in the arms of heavenly light,
Of righteousness divine.

4 Leave no unguarded place,

No weakness of the soul;

Take every virtue, every grace,

And fortify the whole:

Ever together joined,

To battle all proceed;

Arm ye yourselves with all the mind

That was in Christ your Head.

SABBATH AND WORSHIP.

L. M.

The Sabbath welcomed.

MY opening eyes with rapture see
The dawn of thy returning day;
My thoughts, O God, ascend to thee,
While thus my early vows I pay.
2 I yield my heart to thee alone,

Nor would receive another guest:
Eternal King! erect thy throne,

And reign sole monarch in my breast. 3 Oh bid this trifling world retire,

And drive each carnal thought away; Nor let me feel one vain desireOne sinful thought-through all the day. 4 Then, to thy courts when I repair, My soul shall rise on joyful wing, The wonders of thy love declare, And join the strains which angels sing.

Preparation for the Duties of the Sabbath implored. COME, dearest Lord, and bless this day, Come, bear our thoughts from earth away: Now let our noblest passions rise

With ardor to their native skies.

2 Come, Holy Spirit, all divine,
With rays of light upon us shine;
And let our waiting souls be blest,
On this sweet day of sacred rest.

3 Then, when our Sabbaths here are o’er,
And we arrive on Canaan's shore,
