Never from his house to roam;
Come and welcome, sinner, come.
4 Soon the days of life shall end-
Lo, I come-your Saviour, Friend!
Safe your spirits to convey

To the realms of endless day,
Up to my eternal home-

Come and welcome, sinner, come!"

Christ's Invitation to Sinners.

BLEEDING hearts, defiled by sin,
Jesus Christ can make you clean:
Contrite souls, with guilt oppressed,
Jesus Christ can give you rest.

Precious hours and years laid waste;
Turn to God-oh turn and live,
Jesus Christ can still forgive.

3 Fainting souls, in peril's hour,
Yield not to the tempter's power;
On the risen Lord rely,

Jesus Christ now reigns on high.

To banish mortal wo.

3 Ye sinners, come-'tis mercy's voice;
That gracious voice obey;
"Tis Jesus calls to heavenly joys—
And can you yet delay?

Invitation to the Heavy-laden.

COME, weary souls, with sin oppressed, Oh come! accept the promised rest: The Saviour's gracious call obey, And cast your gloomy fears away. 2 Oppressed with guilt-a painful load, Oh come, and bow before your God! Divine compassion, mighty love, Will all the painful load remove. 3 Here mercy's boundless ocean flows, To cleanse your guilt-and heal your woes; Here's pardon, life, and endless peaceHow rich the gift!-how free the grace!

[blocks in formation]

SINNERS, the voice of God regard;
His mercy speaks to-day;

He calls you by his sovereign word,
From sin's destructive way.

2 Like the rough sea, that cannot rest,
You live devoid of peace;

A thousand stings within your breast,
Deprive your souls of ease.

3 Why will you in the crooked ways
Of sin and folly go?

In pain you travail all your days,
To
reap immortal wo!

4 But he, who turns to God, shall live,
Through his abounding grace:

His mercy will the guilt forgive
Of those who seek his face.

5 Bow to the sceptre of his word,
Renouncing every sin;

Submit to him, your sovereign Lord,
And learn his will divine.

6 His love exceeds your highest thoughts! He pardons like a Goď!

He will forgive your numerous faults
Through our Redeemer's blood.

Sinners invited to the Ark of Safety.

OH! cease, my wandering soul,
On restless wing to roam;
All this wide world, to either pole,
Has not for thee a home.

2 Behold the ark of God!
Behold the open door;

Oh! haste to gain that dear abode,
And rove, my soul, no more.

3 There, safe thou shalt abide,
There, sweet shall be thy rest,
And every longing satisfied,
With full salvation blest.

Sinners entreated by the Mercies of Christ. COME, ye sinners-poor and wretched, Come in mercy's gracious hour!

Jesus ready stands to save you,
Full of pity, love, and power:
He is able-

He is willing-doubt no more,

2 Come, ye thirsty-ye are welcome!
God's free bounty glorify:

True belief, and true repentance,
Every grace which brings us nigh,
Without money-

Come to Jesus Christ, and buy.

3 Agonizing in the garden,

Lo! the Saviour prostrate lies!
On the bloody cross behold him!
Hear him cry before he dies-
"It is finished!"—

Heaven's atoning sacrifice!

4 Lo! th' incarnate God, ascended,
Pleads the merit of his blood:
Venture on him-venture wholly ;
Let no other trust intrude:
None but Jesus-

Can do helpless sinners good.

Sufficiency of Christ's Atonement.

YE dying sons of men,
Immerged in sin and wo!
Now mercy calls again;

Its message is to you!

Ye perishing and guilty, come!
In mercy's arms there yet is room.

2 No longer now delay,

Nor vain excuses frame;
Christ bids you come to-day,

Though poor, and blind, and lame:
All things are ready-sinners, come!
For every trembling soul there's room.
