3. Though buried deep, or thinly strewn, Do Thou Thy grace supply; The hope in earthly furrows sown
1. THEY pass refreshed the thirsty vale, The dry and barren ground, As through a fruitful, watery dale,
Where springs and showers abound.
2. They journey on from strength to strength With joy and gladsome cheer, Till all before our God, at length,
3. For God, the Lord, both sun and shield,
Gives grace and glory bright; No good from them shall be withheld
Whose ways are just and right.
1. How sweet, how calm, this Sabbath morn! How pure the air that breathes, And soft the sounds upon it borne, And light its vapor wreaths!
2. It seems as if the Christian's prayer, For peace, and joy, and love, Were answered by the very air That wafts its strain above.
3. Let each unholy passion cease, Each evil thought be crushed, Each anxious care that mars thy peace In Faith and Love be hushed.
1. COME, Thou desire of all Thy saints! Our humble strains attend, While, with our praises and complaints, Low at Thy feet we bend.
2. How should our songs, like those above, With warın devotion rise!
How should our souls, on wings of love, Mount upward to the skies!
3. Come, Lord! Thy love alone can raise In us the heavenly flame; Then shall our lips resound Thy praise, Our hearts adore Thy name.
4. Dear Saviour! let Thy glory shine And fill Thy dwellings here, Till life, and love, and joy divine A heaven on earth appear.
5. Then shall our hearts enraptured say, Come, great Redeemer! come, And bring the bright, the glorious day, That calls Thy children home.
1. WITH His rich gifts the heavenly Dove Descends, and fills the place; While Christ reveals His wondrous love, And sheds abroad His grace.
2. My heart and flesh cry out for Thee While far from Thine abode; When shall I tread Thy courts, and see My Saviour and my God?
3. To sit one day beneath Thine eye, And hear Thy gracious voice, Exceeds a whole eternity
Employed in carnal joys.
4. Lord! at Thy threshold I would wait, While Jesus is within, Rather than fill a throne of state, Or live in tents of sin.
5. Could I command the spacious land And the more boundless sea, For one blest hour at Thy right hand I'd give them both away.
1. HERE cares and angry passions cease, For saints together meet
To spend an hour of prayer and peace At their Redeemer's feet.
2. No sculptured wonders meet the sight, Nor pictured saints appear, Nor storied window's gorgeous light, For God himself is here.
3. And here are comrades in the war With Satan and with sin, Who now in God's own favors share, And soon their heaven will win.
4. Glory to God! who deigns to bless This consecrated day, Unfolds His wondrous promises, And makes it sweet to pray.
5. Glory to God! who deigns to hear The humblest sigh we raise, And answers every heartfelt prayer, And hears our hynın of praise.
1. AGAIN the Lord of life and light Awakes the kindling ray, Dispels the darkness of the night, And pours increasing day.
2. O what a night was that which wrapt
A guilty world in gloom! O what a sun which broke this day Triumphant from the tomb!
3. The powers of darkness leagued in vain To bind our Lord in death;
He shook their kingdom, when He fell, By His expiring breath.
4. And now His conquering chariot wheels Ascend the lofty skies; Broken beneath His powerful cross, Death's iron scepter lies.
5. This day be grateful homage paid, And loud hosannas sung; Let gladness dwell in every heart, And praise on every tongue.
6. Ten thousand thousand voices join To hail this happy morn, Which scatters blessings from its wings
On nations yet unborn.
1. AND now another week begins, This day we call the Lord's; This day He rose, who bore our sins- For so His word records.
2. Hark, how the angels sweetly sing!
Their voices fill the sky; They hail their great victorious King, And welcome Him on high.
3. We'll catch the note of lofty praise; May we their rapture feel; Our thankful songs with theirs we 'll raise, And emulate their zeal.
4. Come, then, ye saints! and grateful sing Of Christ, our risen Lord- Of Christ, the everlasting King- Of Christ, th' incarnate word.
5. Hail, mighty Saviour! Thee we hail!
High on Thy throne above; Till heart and flesh together fail, We'll sing Thy matchless love.
1. BLEST morning, whose young dawning rays Beheld our living God,
That saw Him triumph o'er the dust, And leave His dark abode.
2. In the cold prison of the tomb The dead Redeemer lay, Till the revolving skies had brought The third, th' appointed day.
3. Hell and the grave unite their force To hold our Lord, in vain; The sleeping conqueror arose, And burst their feeble chain.
4. To Thy great name, almighty Lord, These sacred hours we pay, And loud hosannas shall proclaim The triumph of the day.
5. Salvation and immortal praise To our victorious King! Let heaven and earth, and rocks and seas, With glad hosannas ring.
DOXOLOGY. С. М.
To Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, One God, whom we adore, Be glory as it was, is now, And shall be evermore.
1. How pleased and blessed was I To hear the people cry-
"Come, let us seek our God to-day!"
Yes, with a cheerful zeal We haste to Zion's hill,
And there our vows and honors pay.
