October 12

And another angel came out of the temple,

Crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud,

Thrust in thy sickle, and reap:

For the time is come for thee to reap;

For the harvest of the earth is ripe.

October 13

Put ye in the sickle,

For the harvest is ripe:

Come, get you down;

For the press is full,

The fats overflow.

-Rev. 14: 15.

-Joel 3: 13.

October 14

They joy before thee according to the joy in
harvest,

And as men rejoice when they divide the spoil.
-Isa. 9: 3.

October 15

Thou crownest the year with thy goodness;
And thy paths drop fatness.

They drop upon the pastures of the wilder

ness:

And the little hills rejoice on every side.

The pastures are clothed with flocks;
The valleys are covered over with corn;

They shout for joy,
They also sing.

-Ps. 65:11-13.

October 16

Then shall he give the rain of thy seed,
That thou shalt sow the ground withal;
And bread of the increase of the earth,
And it shall be fat and plenteous:

In that day shall thy cattle feed in large pas

tures.

The oxen and young asses that ear the ground
Shall eat clean provender,

Which hath been winnowed with the shovel

[blocks in formation]

Nor gather into barns;

Yet your heavenly Father feedeth them.
Are ye not much better than they?

-Matt. 6: 26.

October 19

Go to the ant, thou sluggard;

Consider her ways, and be wise:

Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler,
Provideth her meat in the summer,

And gathereth her food in the harvest.

—Prov. 6:6-8.

October 20

He that gathereth in summer is a wise son:
But he that sleepeth in harvest

Is a son that causeth shame. —Prov. 10: 5.

October 21

As the cold of snow in the time of harvest,

So is a faithful messenger to them that send
him:

For he refresheth the soul of his masters.
-Prov. 25: 13.

October 22

He made him ride on the high places of the

earth,

That he might eat the increase of the fields;

And he made him to suck honey out of the rock,
And oil out of the flinty rock.

October 23

-Deut 32: 13.

I have planted, Apollos watered;
But God gave the increase.

October 24

-I Cor. 3: 6.

For the earth bringeth forth fruit of herself;
First the blade, then the ear,

After that the full corn in the ear.
But when the fruit is brought forth,
Immediately he putteth in the sickle,
Because the harvest is come.

-Mark 4: 28-29.

October 25

Let both grow together until the harvest:
And in the time of harvest I will say to the

reapers,

Gather ye together first the tares,

And bind them in bundles to burn them:

But gather the wheat into my barn.

October 26

The field is the world;

-Matt. 13: 30.

The good seed are the children of the kingdom;

But the tares are the children of the wicked

one;

The enemy that sowed them is the devil;

The harvest is the end of the world;

And the reapers are the angels.

-Matt. 13: 38-39.

October 27

Six years thou shalt sow thy field,

And six years thou shalt prune thy vineyard,
And gather in the fruit thereof;

But the seventh year shall be a sabbath

Of rest unto the land,

A sabbath for the Lord;

Thou shalt neither sow thy field

Nor prune thy vineyard.

-Lev. 25: 3-4.

October 28

And Ruth the Moabitess said unto Naomi,
Let me now go to the field,

And glean ears of corn

After him in whose sight I shall find grace.

And she said unto her,

Go, my daughter.

And she went, and came,

And gleaned in the field after the reapers.

-Ruth 2: 2-3.
