Friday Evening.

We acknowledge, O Lord, our wickedness, and the iniquity of our fathers; for we have sinned against Thee. Do not abhor us, for Thy Name's sake, do not disgrace the throne of Thy glory; remember, break not Thy covenant with us.-Jer. xiv. 20, 21.

When my soul fainted within me, I remembered the Lord; and my prayer came in unto Thee, into Thine holy temple.-Jonah ii. 7. Whatsoever things ye desire, when ye pray, be

lieve that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.-St. Mark xi. 24.

If God be for us, who can be against us? He that spared not His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?-Rom. viii. 31, 32.

Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.-St. James v. 13.

ALMIGHTY God, by whom all things were made and are preserved, give us hearts to know and grace to con

sider this, that we may cheerfully commit ourselves and all that belongs to us, to Thy merciful care this night; that we may ever look up to Thee for what we may want, be thankful for Thy favours, never resist Thy dealings with us, nor neglect the means of grace which Thy Providence affords us.

Blessed be God, who giveth us what is ever best for us; who keepeth us from danger, and hath provided for us better than we can deserve. Fix in our hearts this great truth, that here we have no abiding place, that we may seriously and timely provide for another life. Good Lord, make us mindful of our duty; that as we often hear how we ought to walk, and to please God, we may continue to do so unto our lives' end.

Forgive whatever Thou hast seen amiss in us this day, and watch over us, we beseech Thee, this night and for evermore. Defend us from all dangers, both of soul

and body; and give us the grace of Thy Holy Spirit, that, not trusting in our own righteousness, but wholly in the merits of Thy blessed Son, we may die with well-grounded comfort and joy, whenever Thou shalt be pleased to call us, for the sake of Jesus Christ our Saviour. Amen.

SATURDAY MORNING.

Jesus, the very thought of Thee
With sweetness fills the breast;
But sweeter far Thy face to see,
And in Thy presence rest.

Tongue never spake, ear never heard,
Never from heart o'erflowed

A dearer Name, a sweeter word,
Than Jesus, Son of God!

O hope of every contrite heart!
To penitents how kind:

To Those who seek how good Thou art!
But what to those that find?

Ah! this no tongue can utter; this

No mortal page can show:

The love of Jesus what it is

None but His loved ones know.

Jesu, our only joy be Thou,

As Thou our prize wilt be; Jesu, be Thou our glory now

And through eternity.

Saturday Morning.

Sanctify the Lord of Hosts Himself; and let Him be your fear; and let Him be your dread. And He shall be for a sanctuary.Is. viii. 13, 14.

Jesus said unto them, They that are whole need not a physician, but they that are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.-St. Luke v. 31, 32.

Humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time. Casting all your care upon Him; for He careth for you.-1 St. Peter v. 6, 7.

MOST glorious and eternal Lord God, Father Almighty, who art the Maker of everything in the Heaven above and in the earth beneath; in Thee we live, and move, and have our being. We thank Thee for Thy loving kindness and tender mercy manifested unto us, who are the work of Thy hands. More especially we praise and magnify Thy Name for Thy in
