ADDED A.D. 1860.

Compiled by John Hopkh & Morises

BOSTON:

SWAN, BREWER AND TILESTON.

1860.

(399)

Entered according to Act of Congress, in the year 1860, by

SWAN, BREWER & TILESTON,

In the Clerk's Office of the District Court of the District of Massachusetts.

For all thy saints, O God
From the recesses of a lowly spirit

GIVE me the wings of faith to rise
God bless our native land

Go when the morning shineth
Grace! 'tis a charming sound
Great God, and wilt thou condescend
Guide me, O thou great Jehovah

HAIL to the Lord's anointed
Hark, my soul, it is the Lord
Hath not thy heart within thee burned
Hear, Father, hear our prayer.
Here, in the broken bread.
He sendeth sun, he sendeth shower
High on a hill of dazzling light
How glorious is the hour

I ASK thee, Lord, for daily strength
If human kindness meets return

I know that my Redeemer lives.
I looked upon the righteous man
I love to steal a while away
In the cross of Christ I glory
1 send the joys of earth away
I sing the almighty power of God
Is there a lone and dreary hour
Is there a time when moments flow

Is this a fast for me.

It came upon the midnight clear.
It is the one true light.
I worship thee, sweet will of God

JESUS, I love thy charming name
Jesus, I my cross have taken
Jesus, Lover of my soul
Jesus, the very thought of thee
Just as I am, without one plea.

LAUDED be thy name forever

Lead, kindly light, amid the encircling gloom

Lift your glad voices in triumph on high
Light of those whose dreary dwelling
Lord Jesus, come! for here

Lord, with fervor I would praise thee
Lo, the day of rest declineth

Lo, what a glorious sight appears
Lowly and solemn be

[ocr errors]

MY God, thy boundless love I praise
My soul, what hast thou done for God.
My spirit longeth for thee..

NEARER, my God, to thee.
New every morning is the love
No war nor battle's sound
Now condescend, almighty King
Now to the Lord a noble song.

[blocks in formation]

O God, whose dread and dazzling brow

O, it is hard to work for God

O, lead me to the rock.

O Lord, turn not thy face away

O love divine, that stooped to share

O, mean may seem this house of clay.
One sweet flower has drooped and faded
On Jordan's stormy banks I stand
Oppression shall not always reign.
O sacred head, now wounded
O say not thou art left of God.
O spirit freed from bondage
O stay thy tears, for they are blest
O thou, whose power tremendous
Our country, is Immanuel's ground
O when the tide of graces set
O ye immortal throng.

PLANTED in Christ, the living Vine.

REMEMBER me, the Saviour said
Rock of Ages, cleft for me

[blocks in formation]

These glorious minds, how bright they shine

The triumphs of the martyred saints

The world may change from old to new.

Think gently of the erring

Thou art gone to the grave; but we will not deplore thee
Thou art, O God, the life and light

Thou hidden source of calm repose

Thou, infinite in love

Thou must go forth alone, my soul
Thou who didst stoop below
