The Rich and the Poor meet together: The Lord is the Maker of them all.

A prudent Man forefeeth the Evil, and hideth himself: But the Simple pats on and are punished. He that oppreffeth the Poor to increafe his Riches; and he that giveth to the Rich, fhall furely come to Want..

Rob not the Poor; because he is opprefs the Afflicted in the Gate.

LESSON III.

poor: Neither

Why ftandeft thou fo far off, O Lord; and hideft thy Face in the needful Time of Trouble? The Ungodly for his own Luft doth perfecute the Poor: Let them be taken in the fame Craft that they have devised.

For the Ungodly hath made boaft of his own Heart's Defire; and fpeaketh good of the Covetous whom God abhorreth.

LESSON IV.

Be not amongst Wine-Bibbers; amongst Riotous Eaters of Flefh.

For the Drunkard and the Glutton, fhall come to Poverty; and Drowfinefs fhall cover a Man with Rags.

There

There is neither Speech nor Language, but their Voices are heard among them.

Their Sound is gone out into all Lands: And their Words into the Ends of the World.

LESSON VI.

The Fear of the Lord is clean, and endureth for ever: The Judgments of the Lord are alway Righteous and true.

More to be defired are they than Gold; yea, than much fine Gold: Sweeter alfo than Hony and the Hony-comb.

Moreover by them is thy Servant taught: And in keeping of them there is great Reward.

LESSON I.

HE Lord looked down from Heaven upon the Children of Men; to fee if there were any that would understand and feek after God. But they are all gone out of the Way, they are all become vile: There is none that doth good,

no not one.

Their Throat is an open Sepulchre; with their Tongues they have deceived: The Poifon of Alps is under their Lips.

LESSON II.

By the Bleffing of the Upright, the City is exalted; but it is overthrown by the Mouth of the Wicked.

Where no Counfel is, the People fall: But in the Multitude of Counsellors, there is Safety. He that is Surety for a Stranger, fhall fmart for it; But he that declineth to be a Surety, is fure.

The merciful Man doth good to his own Soul; but he that is cruel troubleth his own Flesh.

LESSON III.

O Lord, thou halt fearched me out, and known me; thou knowelt my down-fitting, and mine up-rifing; thou didst understand my Thoughts long before.

Thou

Thou art about my Path, and about my Bed; and spieft out all my Ways.

Try me, O God, and feek the Ground of my Heart; prove me, and examin my Thoughts.

Look well if there be any Way of Wickedness in me: And lead me in the Way of eternal Life. LESSON IV.

It is not good to accept the Perfon of the Wicked; to overthrow the Righteous in Judgment. The Heart of the prudent getteth Knowledge; and the Ear of the Wife feeketh Knowledge.

A Man that hath Friends, muft fhew himself Friendly; and there is a Friend that fticketh clofer than a Brother.

Many will intreat the Favour of the Prince; and every Man is a Friend to him that giveth Gifts. LESSON V.

Deliver me, O Lord, from the evil Man, and preferve me from the wicked Man.

Who imagin Mischief in their Hearts: And ftir up Strife all the Day long.

They have fharpened their Tongues like a Serpent: Adders Poifon is under their Lips.

Keep me, O Lord, from the Hands of the Ungodly Preferve me from the wicked Men, who are purpofed to overthrow my Goings.

LESSON VI.

The Wisdom of the Prudent is to understand his Way; but the Folly of Fools is Deceit. The Simple believeth every Word: But the prudent Man looketh well to his going.

A wife Man feareth and departeth from Evil; But the Fool rageth and is confident.

The Evil bow before the Good: And the Wicked at the Gates of the Righteous.
