Balm that flows for ev'ry wound;
Peace that ever shall endure;
Rest eternal, sacred, sure.

L

HYMN 123. s. M.

ET ev'ry ear attend,
And ev'ry heart rejoice;

The trumpet of the gospel sounds,
With an inviting voice.

2 Ho! all ye starving souls,
That feed upon the wind,
And vainly strive with earthly toys
To fill an empty mind:

3 Here wisdom has prepar'd
A soul-reviving feast,

And bids your longing appetites
The rich provision taste.

4 Ho! ye that pant for streams,
And pine away and die :

Here you may quench your raging thirst,
With springs that never dry.

5 Rivers of mercy here

In a rich ocean join;

Salvation in abundance flows,

Like floods of milk and wine.

6 The gates of gospel grace

1 "

Stand open night and day:
Lord! we are come to seek supplies,
And drive our wants away.

"C

HYMN 124. L. M.

HOME hither, all ye weary souls!
Ye heavy-laden sinners! come:

I'll give you rest from all your toils,

And raise you to my heav'nly home."

2 "They shall find rest, that learn of me;
I'm of a meek and lowly mind :
But passion rages like the sea,

And pride is restless as the wind."

3 "Bless'd is the man, whose shoulders take My yoke, and bear it with delight! My yoke is easy to his neck;

My grace shall make the burden light."

4 Jesus! we come at thy command,

With faith, and hope, and humble zeal; Resign our spirits to thy hand,

To mould and guide us at thy wili.

HYMN 125. L. M.

2 Oppress'd with guilt, a painful load,
O come, and spread your woes abroad.
Divine compassion, mighty love
Will all the painful load remove.

3 Here mercy's boundless ocean flows,
To cleanse your guilt and heal your woes;
Pardon, and life, and endless peace;
How rich the gift! how free the grace!

4 Lord, we accept, with thankful heart,
The hope thy gracious words impart.
We come with trembling, yet rejoice,
And bless thy kind inviting voice.

HYMN 126. c. M.

THE Saviour calls; let ev'ry ear
Attend the heav'nly sound.

Ye doubting souls! dismiss your fear;
Hope smiles reviving round.

2 For ev'ry thirsty longing heart,
Here streams of bounty flow;

And life, and health, and bliss impart,
To banish mortal wo.

3 Here springs of sacred pleasure rise,
To ease your ev'ry pain:
Immortal fountain! full supplies!
Nor shall you thirst in vain.

4 Ye sinners! come, 'tis mercy's voice;
The gracious call obey.
Mercy invites to heav'nly joys :-
And can you yet delay?

5 Dear Saviour! draw reluctant hearts;
To thee let sinners fly;

And take the bliss thy love imparts,
And drink, and never die.

THE

HYMN 127. C. M.

HE King of heav'n his table spreads,
And dainties crown the board.

Not all the boasted joys of earth

Could such delight afford.

2 Pardon and peace to dying men,
And endless life are giv'n;

And the rich blood, which Jesus shed,
To raise the soul to heav'n.

3 Ye hungry poor, who long have stray'd
In sin's dark mazes, come;

Come from the hedges and highways,
And grace will find you room.

4 Thousands of souls, in glory now,
Were fed and feasted here;

And thousands more, still on the way,
Around the board appear.

5 Yet is his house and heart so large,
That thousands more may come;
Nor could the wide assembling world
O'erfill the spacious room.

6 All things are ready: enter in,
Nor weak excuses frame.

Come, take your places at the feast,
And bless the Founder's name.

EXAMPLE OF CHRIST.

1

HYMN 128. L. M.

Y dear Redeemer, and my Lord!
I

MY

M'dead my duty in thy word:

But in thy life the law appears,
Drawn out in living characters.

2 Such was thy truth, and such thy zeal,
Such def'rence to thy Father's will,
Thy love and meekness so divine,
I would transcribe and make them mine.
3 Cold mountains and the midnight air
Witness'd the fervour of thy pray'r:

The desert thy temptations knew,
Thy conflict, and thy vict'ry too!
4 Be thou my pattern; let me bear
More of thy gracious image here.
Then God the Judge shall own my name
Among the fol'wers of the Lamb.

HYMN 129. L. M.

ND is the gospel peace and love? Such let our conversation be; The serpent blended with the dove, Wisdom and meek simplicity.

2 Whene'er the angry passions rise,

And tempt our thoughts or tongues to strife, On Jesus let us fix our eyes,

Bright pattern of the Christian life.

3 O how benevolent and kind!

How mild! how ready to forgive!
Be this the temper of our mind,
And these the rules by which we live.
4 To do his heav'nly Father's will,
Was his employment and delight:
Humility and holy zeal

Shone through his life divinely bright.
5 Dispensing good where'er he came,
The labours of his life were love.
If then we love the Saviour's name,
Let his divine example move!

HYMN 130. C. M.

BEHOLD, where in a mortal form

Appears each grace divine!

The virtues, all in Jesus met,
With mildest radiance shine.
