God, in whom are all the fprings

God, my everlasting hope

God, permit my tongue
God, the steps of pious men
God, the vifits of thy face
heart and flesh cry out for thee
Saviour, my Almighty Friend
foul lies cleaving to the duft
foul, repeat his praise
foul, review the time

foul, the awful hour will come
fpirit looks to God alone

truft is in my heavenly Friend
TO change of times fhall ever fhock
Not to ourselves, who are but dust

w be my heart infpir'd to fing
w in the hour of deep diftrefs
w let our mournful fongs record
ow may the God of power and grace
ow hall my folemn vows be paid
ow to the Lord of heaven and earth

BLESSED fouls are they

O come, loud anthems let us fing

juftice and of grace I fing

for a fhout of facred joy

God of my falvation, hear
God, my grateful foul afpires

cry

O God, we celebrate thy praife
how I love thy holy law
O Lord, how worthy of our love
O Lord, my rock, to thee I
O Lord,
our fathers oft have told
O Lord, to our request give ear
On God my steadfast hopes rely
Opraife ye the Lord

Shout to the Lord, ye furging feas.
Sing to the Lord aloud

Sing to the Lord, let praife infpire
Sing to the Lord, who loud proclaims

Th' Almighty reigns exalted high
That man is bleft who ftands in awe
Thee will I blefs, my God and King
The God Jehovah reigns

The heavens declare thy glory, Lord
The King of Saints, how fair his face.
The Lord himself, the mighty Lord
The Lord in Zion plac'd his name
The Lord Jehovah reigns

[blocks in formation]

The Lord my pafture fhall prepare
The Lord my Saviour is my light
The Lord my thepherd is

The Lord of glory is my light

The Lord, the Judge, before his throne
The Lord, the Judge, his churches warns
The prailes of my God and King
There is a God, all nature speaks
They who in thips, with courage bold
Think, mighty God, on feeble man
This is the day the Lord hath made
This fpacious earth is all the Lord's
Thou art my portion, O my God
Thou God, by whofe command I live
Thou God of love, thou ever bleft

W Welcome, thou day of facred reft

What feraph of celeftial birth

What fhall I render to my God
What finners value I refign

When fancy fpreads her boldeft wings
When God reveal'd his gracious name
When Ifracl, freed from Pharaoh's hand
When I furvey life's varied fcene

HY M N S.

Hymn 1. Long Metre.

A

Perfecution.

[* or b]

BSURD and vain attempt! to bind With iron chains, the freeborn mind; To force conviction, and reclaim The wandering, by deftructive flame! 2 Bold arrogance, to fnatch from heaven Dominion not to mortals given ! O'er confcience to ufurp the throne, Accountable to God alone.

3 Mad zeal! that fills the world with woe! That hurls down kingdoms at a blow! That wakens vengeance to devour

The foes of antichristian power.

4 Jefus, thy gentle law of love.
Does no fuch cruelties approve;
Mild as thyfelf, thy doctrine wields
No arms, but what perfuafion yields.
5 By proofs divine and reason ftrong,
It draws the willing foul along;
And conquefts to thy church acquires,
By eloquence, which Heaven infpires.
O happy, who are thus compell'd
To the rich feaft, by Jefus held !
May we this bleffing know, and prize
The light which liberty fupplies.
