He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and with His stripes we are healed.ISA. 53. 5.

Who loved me, and gave Himself for me.-GAL. 2. 20.

ROCK of Ages, cleft for me,

Let me hide myself in Thee;

Let the water and the blood,
From Thy riven side which flow'd,
Be of sin the double cure,
Cleanse me from its guilt and power.
Not the labours of my hands
Can fulfil Thy laws demands;
Could my zeal no respite know,
Could my tears for ever flow,
All for sin could not atone,
Thou must save, and Thou alone.

Nothing in my hand I bring;
Simply to Thy cross I cling;
Naked, come to Thee for dress;
Helpless, look to Thee for grace ;
Foul, I to the fountain fly;
Wash me, Saviour, or I die.

While I draw this fleeting breath,
When my eyelids close in death,

When I soar through tracts unknown,

See Thee on Thy judgment throne,
Rock of Ages, cleft for me,

Let me hide myself in Thee.

A. M. Toplady.

Almighty God, we beseech Thee graciously to behold this Thy family, for which our Lord Jesus Christ was contented to be betrayed, and given up into the hands of wicked men, and to suffer death upon the cross, who now liveth and reigneth with Thee and the Holy Ghost, ever one God, world without end. Amen.

By Thine Agony and bloody Sweat; by Thy Cross and Passion; by Thy precious Death and Burial; by Thy glorious Resurrection and Ascension; and by the coming of the Holy Ghost,

Good Lord, deliver us.

Unto Him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in His own blood, and hath made us kings and priests unto God and His Father; to Him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

Easter Day.

Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over Him. For in that He died, He died unto sin once: but in that He liveth, He liveth unto God. Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.-ROм. 6. 9-11.

That I may know Him, and the power of His resurrection.-PHIL. 3. 10.

OH, let me know

The power of Thy resurrection;

Oh, let me show

Thy risen life in calm and clear reflection;
Oh, let me soar

Where Thou, my Saviour Christ art gone before;
In mind and heart

Let me dwell always, only, where Thou art.
Oh, let me give

Out of the gifts Thou freely givest;
Oh, let me live

With life abundantly because Thou livest;
Oh, make me shine

In darkest places, for Thy light is mine;
Oh, let me sing

For very joy because Thou art my King.
Oh, let me show

The strong reality of Gospel story;
Oh, let me go

From strength to strength, from glory unto glory;
Oh, let me be

A faithful witness for Thy truth and Thee;

Oh, let me praise

Thy love and faithfulness through all my days.
F. R. Havergal.

Almighty God, who through Thine only begotten Son Jesus Christ hast overcome death, and opened unto us the gate of everlasting life; we humbly beseech Thee, that, as by Thy special grace preventing us Thou dost put into our minds good desires, so by Thy continual help we may bring the same to good effect; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with Thee and the Holy Ghost, ever one God, world without end. Amen.

While they beheld, He was taken up.-Acтs 1. 9.

SEE EE the Conqueror mounts in triumph, see the King in royal state,

Riding on the clouds His chariot, to His heavenly palace

gate;

Hark, the choirs of angel voices joyful Hallelujahs sing, And the portals high are lifted, to receive their Heavenly

King.

Who is this that comes in glory, with the trump of jubilee ?

Lord of battles, God of armies, He has gain'd the victory; He who on the cross did suffer, He who from the grave

arose,

He has vanquish'd sin and Satan, He by death has spoil'd His foes.

While He raised His hands in blessing, He was parted from His friends;

While their eager eyes behold Him, He upon the clouds ascends;

He who walk'd with God and pleased Him, preaching truth and doom to come,

He, our Enoch, is translated to His Everlasting Home. Now our Heavenly Aaron enters, with His blood, within the veil;

Joshua now is come to Canaan, and the kings before Him quail :

Now He plants the tribes of Israel in their promised resting-place;

Now our great Elijah offers double portion of His grace. Thou hast raised our human nature in the clouds to God's right hand,

There we sit in heavenly places, there with Thee in glory stand;

Jesus reigns adored by angels; man with God is on the

throne;

Mighty Lord, in Thine ascension, we by faith behold

our own.

Bp. Christ. Wordsworth.

Grant, we beseech Thee, Almighty God, that like as we do believe Thy only-begotten Son our Lord Jesus Christ to have ascended into the heavens; so we may also in heart and mind thither ascend, and with Him continually dwell, who liveth and reigneth with Thee and the Holy Ghost, one God, world without end. Amen.

Whit-Sunday.

Jesus said: The Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, Whom the Father will send in My Name, He shall teach you all things.-ST. JOHN 14. 26.

OUR bless'd Redeemer, ere He breathed

His tender last farewell,
A Guide, a Comforter, bequeathed,
With us to dwell.

He came in semblance of a dove,
With sheltering wings outspread,
The holy balm of peace and love
On earth to shed.

He came sweet influence to impart,
A gracious willing Guest,

While He can find one humble heart
Wherein to rest.

And His that gentle voice we hear,
Soft as the breath of even,

That checks each thought, that calms each fear,
And speaks of heaven.

And every virtue we possess,
And every victory won,

And every thought of holiness,
Are His alone.

Spirit of purity and grace,

Cur weakness, pitying, see;

O make our hearts Thy dwelling-place,
And meet for Thee.

Harriet Auber.

O God the King of Glory, Who hast exalted Thine only Son Jesus Christ with great triumph unto Thy kingdom in heaven; We beseech Thee, leave us not comfortless; but send to us Thine Holy Ghost to comfort us, and exalt us unto the same place whither our Saviour Christ is gone before; Who liveth and reigneth with Thee and the Holy Ghost, one God, world without end. Amen.

God, who as at this time didst teach the hearts of Thy faithful people, by the sending to them the light of Thy Holy Spirit; Grant us by the same Spirit to have a right judgment in all things, and evermore to rejoice in His holy comfort; through the merits of Christ Jesus our Saviour, Who liveth and reigneth with Thee, in the unity of the same Spirit, one God, world without end. Amen.

Trinity Sunday.

Jesus said: Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.-ST. MATT. 28. 19.

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all.-2 COR. 13. 14.

LEAD us, Heavenly Father, lead us,
O'er the world's tempestuous sea;
Guard us, guide us, keep us, feed us,
For we have no help but Thee;
Yet possessing
Every blessing,

If our God our Father be.

Saviour, breathe forgiveness o'er us;
All our weakness Thou dost know;
Thou didst tread this earth before us,
Thou didst feel its keenest woe;
Lone and dreary,

Faint and weary,

Through the desert Thou didst go.
Spirit of our God, descending,

Fill our hearts with heavenly joy;
Love with every passion blending,
Pleasure that can never cloy:
Thus provided,

Pardon'd, guided,

Nothing can our peace destroy.

J. Edmeston.

O Holy, Blessed, and Glorious Trinity, three Persons and one God: have mercy upon us miserable sinners.

Almighty and everlasting God, who hast given unto us Thy servants grace by the confession of a true faith to acknowledge the glory of the Eternal Trinity, and in the power of the Divine Majesty to worship the Unity; We beseech Thee, that Thou wouldest keep us steadfast in this faith, and evermore defend us from all adversities, who livest and reignest, one God, world without end. Amen.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son: and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be: world without end. Amen.

God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Ghost, bless, preserve, and keep us, this night and for evermore. Amen.
