3 The orders that his lips proclaim

Thro' endless years endure: Holy and reverend is his name, His ways are just and pure.

4 They that would grow divinely wife
Muft with his fear begin;

Our fairest proof of knowledge lies
In hating every fin.

PSALM LXVI.

Blessedness of integrity.

I HOW calm their state, how happy they
Who, from pollution free,

Would never from thy precepts ftray,
But cleave, great God, to thee!

2 How happy they that know thy word,
And practise its commands !

While their whole hearts obey the Lord
They ferve him with their hands.

3 Great is their peace who love thy law;
How firm their fouls abide !

Nor can a bold temptation draw
Their fteady feet aside.

4 Then fhall my heart have ftable joy, Secure from fear and fhame,

When my best efforts I employ

To honour all thy name.

PSALM LXVII.

W.

Profeffion of fincerity, repentance, and obedience.

I THOU art my portion, O my God;
Soon as I know thy way

My heart refolves to obey thy word,
And fuffers no delay.

2 I choose the path of heavenly truth, And glory in my choice:

Not all the riches of the earth
Could make me fo rejoice.

The teftimonies of thy grace
I fet before mine eyes ;

Thence I derive my daily ftrength,
And there my comfort lies.

4 If e'er I wander from thy path,

I think upon my ways,

Then turn my feet to thy commands,

And truft thy pardoning grace.

5 Now I am thine, for ever thine,

O fave thy fervant, Lord;

Thou art my shield, my hiding-place;
My hope is in thy word.

6 Thou haft inclin'd this heart of mine
Thy ftatutes to fulfil :

Aid me, great God, till life fhall end,
To do and bear thy will.

W.

PSALM LXVIII.

Inftruction from the word of God.

I HOW shall the young fecure their ways,
And guard their fouls from fin?
Thy word the wisest rules conveys
To keep the confcience clean.

2 When once it enters human hearts,
And spreads its light abroad;
Divine inftruction it imparts,

And lifts our thoughts to God.

3 Thy precepts make me truly wife
The finner's path to flee,

To check whate'er vain thoughts arife,
And walk, my God, with thee.

4 Thy word is everlasting truth, How pure is every page!

That holy book fhall guide our youth,

And well fupport our age.

PSALM LXIX.

Comfort and delight in the word of God.

W.

1 LORD, I have made thy word my choice, My lafting heritage;

In this my nobleft powers rejoice,
My warmest thoughts engage.

2 I'll read the hiftories of thy love,
And keep thy laws in sight;
While thro' the promises I rove
With ever-fresh delight.

3 'Tis a broad land of wealth unknown,
Where fprings of life arise,
Seeds of immortal blifs are fown,
And true perfection lies.

4 The best relief that mourners have,
It makes our forrows bleft,

Extends our hope beyond the grave

To heaven's eternal reft.

PSALM LXX.

PSALM LXX.

Defire after religious knowledge.

1 O LORD, thy mercies fill the earth;
How good thy works appear!
Open my eyes to read thy word,
And fee thy wonders there.

2 My frame was fashion'd by thy power;
To thee my all I owe;
Oh, make thy fervant understand
The duties he muft do.

3 From me, a stranger on the earth, Thy path let nothing hide,

But mark the road my feet fhould
And be my constant guide.

go,

4 If God to me his ftatutes fhow,
And heavenly truth impart;

His work for ever I'll pursue,
His law fhall rule my heart.
