takes place, which occasions a conversation between

Sir Charles and Mr. D. upon an interesting sub-

ject.

A short conference between the doctor and Mr. D.

The physician's opinion of the cause of his patient's

dejection of spirits. Roger Trusty consulted, and

pointedly interrogated. His behaviour on the occa-

sion. An event of importance, and a letter written

some time since to Mr. D. concludes the chapter.

The history of the Warian family concluded. Mr.

Trap's conduct related, and also the conduct of the

Some

T is usual with novelists to introduce their heroes and heroines at a very early period of life and their reason for this is obvious; youth is interesting, and we love to trace the opening virtues, and dispositions of a character proposed to our observation.

On this principle we introduce the hero of this little narrative, at the age of ten years, and hope to obtain for him a cordial reception; especially when we declare, that he was of an amiable temper, agreeable manners, and had, from his earliest infancy, evinced great acuteness of genius. Another interesting circumstance in his favour is that, at this early period
