T is usual with novelists to introduce their heroes and heroines at a very early period of life and their reason for this is obvious; youth is interesting, and we love to trace the opening virtues, and dispositions of a character proposed to our observation.

On this principle we introduce the hero of this little narrative, at the age of ten years, and hope to obtain for him a cordial reception; especially when we declare, that he was of an amiable temper, agreeable manners, and had, from his earliest infancy, evinced great acuteness of genius.
