6 They were mortal, too, like us;
Ah! when we, like them, shall die,
May our souls, translated thus,
Triumph, reign, and shine on high!

507 The Teacher in view of Death. 8's то Jesus, the crown of my hope,

My soul is in haste to be gone; Oh bear me, ye cherubim, up,

And waft me away to his throne.
2 My Saviour, whom absent love,
Whom not having seen, I adore,
Whose name is exalted above

All glory, dominion, and power:
3 Dissolve thou the bands that detain
My soul from her portion in thee;
O strike off the adamant chain,
And make me eternally free.

4 Then that happy era begins

When arrayed in thy glory I shine, And no longer pierce with my sins The bosom on which I recline.

DISMISSION AND DOXOLOGIES.

WE

S. M.

E now from school depart, Grace in God's house to seek; Be present, Lord, with every heart, There, and throughout the week.

8 May Father, Spirit, Son,

Rule us in peace and love;

And when on earth thy will is done,
Receive our souls above.

509

Dismission.

8, 7, 4.

LORD, dismiss us with thy blessing,
Fill our hearts with joy and peace;
Let us each, thy love possessing,
Triumph in redeeming grace;
O refresh us,

Travelling through this wilderness.
2 Thanks we give, and adoration
For the gospel's joyful sound;
May the fruits of thy salvation
In our hearts and lives abound;
May thy presence

With us evermore be found.

So, whene'er the signal's given,
Us from earth to call away;
Borne on angels' wings to heaven,
Glad to leave our cumbrous clay-
May we, ready,

Rise and reign in endless day

COME, Christian brethren, ere we part.

Join every voice and every heart;
One solemn hymn to God we raise;
One final song of grateful praise.

2 Teachers! we here may meet no more,
But there is yet a happier shore;
And there, released from toil and pain,
Dear brethren, we shall meet again.

Parting.

L. M.

FATHER, once more let grateful praise

humble prayer to thee ascend; Thou Guide and Guardian of my ways, Our first, and last, and only Friend. 2 Since every day and hour that's gone Has been with mercy richly crowned; Mercy, we know, shall still flow on, For ever sure, as time rolls round.

3 Hear, then, the parting prayers we pour And bind our hearts in love alone; Though we may meet on earth no more, May we at last surround thy throne.

Prayer at Parting.

L. M

1 DISMISS us with thy blessing, Lord,
us to feed upon thy word;

All that has been amiss forgive,
And let thy truth within us live.

2 Though we are guilty, thou art good;
Wash all our works in Jesus' blood;

Give every fettered soul release,
And bid us all depart in peace.

To God the Father, God the Son,
And God the Spirit, Three in One,
Be honour, praise, and glory given,
By all on earth, and all in heaven.

Let God the Father, and the Son,
And Spirit be adored,

When there are works to make him known,

[blocks in formation]

ive to the Father praise,

Give glory to the Eon,

And to the Spirit of his grace
Be equal honour done.

[blocks in formation]

Ye angels round the throne,

And saints that dwell below,

Worship the Father, love the Son,

And bless the Spirit too.

[blocks in formation]

Praise God, from whom all blessings flow;
Pruise him, all creatures here below
Praise him above, ye heavenly host,

Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

8,7.

AY the grace of Christ our Saviour, And the Father's boundless love, With the Holy Spirit's favour,

Rest upon us from above;

2 Thus may we abide in union

With each other and the Lord;
And possess, in sweet cominunion,
Joys which earth cannot afford.

NOW

C. M.

to the Lamb that once was slain Be endless blessings paid;

Salvation, glory, joy, remain
For ever on thy head.

2 Thou hast redeemed us by thy blood,
And set the prisoners free;

1

Hast made us kings and priests to God,
And we shall reign with thee.

[blocks in formation]

GLORY to the Father give,

God, in whom we move and live; Children's prayers he deigns to hear, Children's songs delight his car.

2 Glory to the Son we bring,

Christ, our prophet, priest, and king
Children, raise your sweetest strain,
To the Lamb, for he was slain.

3 Glory to the Holy Ghost;
Be this day a pentecost!

Children's minds may he inspire,
Touch their tongues with holy fire.

4 Glory in the highest be
To the blessed Trinity,

For the gospel from above,

For the word that God is love."
