John v. 16. The Jews did persecute Jesus, and sought to slay him, because he had done these things on the sabbath day. Ver. 18. Christ seems to rest the credit of all his pretensions on this event, of his rising from the dead. Matt. xvi. 16. Peter said unto him, thou art Christ, the Son of the living God. Ver. 20. He charged his disciples that they should tell no man, that he was Jesus, the Christ, (Mark ix. 10.) till the Son of man were risen from the dead. XLI. The witnesses of his resurrection.
