A few of these were non-Mormons, who had cast in their lot with the Saints. As seen, twelve times twelve men had been chosen -whether designedly or otherwise we know not-but one of their number, Ellis Eames, falling sick after the company left Winter Quarters, returned, leaving the pioneer roll at one hundred and fortythree.
