He ftudies to approve himself to God, a Workman that need not be afhamed, rightly dividing the Word of Truth. He preaches the Word, being inftant in Seafon, and out of Seafon, reproving, rebuking exhorting with all Long-fuffering and Doctrine. Thofe that oppo themselves he inftructs with Meeknefs, waiting and praying that God would give them Repentance to the Acknowledgment of the Truth He feeds the Flock of God, not by constraint, but willingly, not for filthy Lucre, but of a ready Mind. His Speech, and his Preaching is not with enticing Words of Man's Wifdom, but he fpeaks as the Oracles of God, in Demonftration of the Spirit, and of Power, with uncorruptnes gravity, fincerity, not as pleafing Men, but God, who trieth the Hearts. Dr. Lightfoot remarks, that God promifed Eternal Life before the Mcfaic Oeconomy, or Difpenfation; that Life therefore is not to be expected by the Law of Mofos. See the Note on 2 Tim, 1. 9.
