In the compilation of the following Pages, the objects in view, were 1st. To give a brief statement of the Principles of Unitarian Christianity to those who are unacquainted with them; together with some of the chief arguments on which those principles are founded-2d. To lead the persons who peruse these Pages to consult those larger works on the question at issue between Unitarians and Trinitarians, from which most of the succeeding observations are taken; —3d. To induce every one to examine the Bible with seriousness and attention as the only sure ground on which the faith of a Christian can be built, that cach person may decide for himself, whether these things are so.-If from reading this small work these objects are in the slightest degree accomplished; if a single error should be corrected; if only one step be taken on the road to Truth, I shall receive the most satisfactory reward of a Christian, that my labours have not been in vain in the Lord.

It will not, I trust, be thought presumptuous in me to express my sincere thanks to the Inhabitants of this and a neighbouring Town, for the very great attention with which they have honoured the Lectures on the Distinguishing Principles of Unitarianism, which have been delivered in this place. To the last day of life I am sure I shall reflect with pleasure on the opportunity afforded me of exciting an extensive inquiring upon these most important subjects. And although one convert should not have been made to
