LONDON. FROM GREENWICH. THIS splendid prospect of the metropolis of Great Britain, with its noble river, has long been celebrated. It is unquestionably the finest point of view for displaying its commercial opulence, if it does not as from some other sites afford an equally favourable view of its architectural ornaments. The view is taken from the Park; and the whole combined scenery presents one of the most splendid coups d'œil that can be imagined. To be properly enjoyed, it should be seen at an early hour in the morning, before the numerous fires have covered the metropolis with a dense mantle of smoke; rendering the distinction of the different buildings a matter of impossibility. It is a favourite spot both with the painter and the poet; and its splendour has been well described by Mr. Wordsworth in the following sonnet.
