CCXLVIII.-A Psalm or Hymn of Praise and Thanksgiving after Victory.

1, 2, 3, 4. If the Lord had not been on our side, now may we say: if the Lord himself had not been on our side, when men rose up against us; they had swallowed us up quick, when they were so wrathfully displeased at us: yea, the waters had drowned us, and the stream had gone over our soul: the deep waters of the proud had gone over our soul. CCXLIX. A Prayer for Grace to glorify God.

1. Great and marvellous are thy works, Lord God mighty God, Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King Commander of saints. Rev. xv. 3. The Lord most high is terrible; he is a great King over all the earth. Sing praises to God, sing praises: sing praises unto our King, sing praises. For God is the King of all the earth: sing ye praises with understanding. God reigneth over the heathen: God sitteth upon the throne of his holiness. The princes of the people are gathered together, even the people of the God of Abraham: for the shields of the earth belong unto God. Psal. xlvii. 2. 6 to 9. Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory. Matt. vi. 13. For he spake, and it was done; he cominanded, and it stood fast. Psal. xxxiii. 9.
