Before the Lord, your sovereign King;
With all your tongues his glory sing.
Doth life and breath and being give :
The sheep that on his pastures live.
With praises to his courts repair;
To pay your thanks and honors there.
Great is his grace, his mercy sure ;
His truth from age to age endure.
The King of Glory.
Where Christ, the Ruler, is confessed !
To whom the great Redeemer comes !
Behold, the King of glory waits !
The Saviour of the world is here.
Make it a temple set apart
Adorned with prayer and love and joy.
My soul to thee; here, Lord, abide !
9 Before Jehovah's awful Throne. 1 Before Jehovah's awful throne,
Ye nations, bow with sacred joy :
He can create, and he destroy.
Made us of clay, and formed us men;
He brought us to his fold again. 3 We are his people, we his care,
Our souls, and all our mortal frame:
Almighty Maker, to thy name?
High as the heavens our voices raise ;
Shall fill thy courts with sounding praise. 5 Wide as the world is thy command,
Vast as eternity thy love:
When rolling years shall cease to move.
13 God praised in the Congregation. 1 Oh, praise ye the Lord! prepare your glad voice,
His praise in the great assembly to sing : In their great Creator let all men rejoice,
And heirs of salvation be glad in their King. 2 Let them his great name devoutly adore,
In loud-swelling strains his praises express, Who graciously opens his bountiful store,
Their wants to relieve, and his children to bless. B With glory adorned, his people shall sing
To God, who defence and plenty supplies; Their loud acclamations to him, their great King, Through earth shall be scunded and reach to the skies.
12 Praise God, all ye his Servants. 1 Praise God, ye gladdening smiles of morn;
Praise him, O silent night;
Praise him, ye stars of light.
Obedient to his word;
Join ye and praise the Lord.
With purer lips can sing:
To him, the eternal King.
To do his heavenly will;
Upon his altar still.
His Spirit’s blest control.
Bless thou the Lord, my soul!
19 The Greatness of God. 1 The Lord is greatl ye hosts of heaven adore him;
And ye, who tread this earthly ball, In holy songs rejoice aloud before him,
And shout his praise, who made you all. 2 The Lord is greatl his majesty, how glorious!
Resound his praise from shore to shore; O’ersin and death and hell, now made victorious,
He rules and reigns for evermore. 3 The Lord is great! his mercy, how abounding!
Ye angels, strike your golden chords; [ing, Oh, praise our God, with voice and harp resound. The King of kings, and Lord of lords!
8s & 7s.
Praise him, angels, in the height;
Praise him, all ye stars of light.
Worlds his mighty voice obeyed;
For their guidance he hath made.
Never shall his promise fail;
Sin and death shall not prevail.
Hosts on high, his power proclaim;
Praise and magnify his name.
10s & 11s.
And publish abroad his wonderful name;
2 God ruleth on high, almighty to save ;
And still he is nigh, his presence we have ;
3 Salvation to God, who sits on the throne,
Let all cry aloud, and honor the Son ;
4 Then let us adore, and give him his right,
All glory and power and wisdom and might;
To bless Jehovah's name,
A general song From every tongue, Of grateful praise.
2 But oh, from human tongues
Should nobler praises flow,
With warm devotion glow;
Above the rest Ye highly blest;
Declare his praise.
My heart, my voice, inspire;
The universal choir;
And tune my song. My heart and tongue, To lively praise.
Let the Creator's praise arise ;
Through every land, by every tongue.
Eternal truth attends thy word:
