The heav'nly arches spread;
And by the fpirit of the LORD
Their fhining hosts were made.

He bid the liquid waters flow

To their appointed deep;

The flowing feas their limits know,
And their own ftation keep.

Ye tenants of the fpacious earth
With fear before him ftand;

He spake, and nature took its birth,

And refts on his command,

Thy glorious works our thoughts engage
How vaft thy pow'r divine!
Thy counsels stand thro' ev'ry age,

Long Metre.

I.

ITH glory clad, with strength array'd,
The LORD, who o'er all nature reigns,
The world's foundations strongly laid,
And the vaft fabric ftill fuftains.

II.

How furely stablish'd is thy throne!
Which shall no change or period fee';
For thou O LORD, and thou alone,
Art GOD from all eternity.

III.

The floods, O LORD, lift up their voice,
And tofs the troubled waves on high;
But GOD above can ftill their noife,
And make the angry fea comply.

IV.

Thy promife, LORD, is ever sure,
And they who in thy house would dwell,
That happy ftation to fecure,

Muft ftill in holiness excel.

IVE thanks to GOD, the fov'reignLORD,
His mercies ftill endure
And be the king of kings ador'd,

What wonders hath his wifdom done!

How mighty is his hand;

Heav'n, earth, and fea he fram'd alone,
How wide is his command,

'The fun fupplies the day with light,
How bright his counfels fhine!
The moon and ftars adorn the night,
His works are all divine.

IV.

He faw the nations dead in fin;
He felt his pity move;

How fad the ftate the world was in!

How boundless was his love.

He fent to fave us from our woe,
His goodness never fails;
From fin and death, and ev'ry foe;
And ftill his grace prevails.

VI.、

Give thanks to GOD our heav'nly king,

His mercies ftill endure;

Let the whole earth his praises fing,
His truth is ever fure.

Mercy and truth are all his ways:

Wonders of grace to GOD belong,
Repeat his mercies in your fong.

Give to the LORD of lords renown,
The King of kings with glory crown;
His mercies ever fhall endure,

When lords and kings are known no more.
