GOD, the fountain of all wifdom, and the difpofer of all events, be graciously present in the great council of the nation, at this time in parliament affembled: may they have wisdom to difcern, and integrity to purfue the welfare of these kingdoms: and may all their debates be fo over-ruled by thy gracious governance, as finally to terminate in thy honour; the encouragement of virtue, and true religion; and the establishment of our public liberties throughout all generations. Amen.

For Privy Counsellors, Nobility, Judges, Magiftrates, and all the People.

AY it please thee, O GOD, who haft the hearts of all men in thine hands, to blefs the King's privy

counsellors, the nobility, judges, magistrates, and the whole body of the people of this land: may they all discharge the duties of their stations with fidelity and good confcience; feverally contribute to the general welfare and happiness; and thus be prepared for thine approbation, and acceptance unto eternal life. Amen.

For Chriftian Minifters.

GOD, the Father of our LORD JESUS CHRIST, the fountain of light, from whom cometh every good and perfect gift, we humbly befeech thee to fend down thy heavenly bleffing upon Christian ministers, of every denomination: may they be fo replenished with the truth of thy doctrine; and fo exemplary in unaffected piety and goodness of life, that they may become the happy means of turning many to righteousness; and of promoting the knowledge and tice of the pure and holy Gofpel of JESUS CHRIST, our LORD. Amen.

For the afflicted.

GOD, the Creator and Preserver of mankind, we commend to thy fatherly goodness, all those who are any-ways afflicted or diftreffed in mind, body, or estate; [efpecially those for whom our prayers are defired;] may it please thee to comfort and relieve them according to their feveral neceffities; giving them patience under their sufferings; and a happy iffue out of all their afflictions. Amen.

one accord to make our common fupplications unto thee, fulfil, we beseech thee, the defires and petitions of thy fervants, as thou in thy wisdom knowest to be good for us: we commit ourselves to the care of thy providence: mercifully defend us from all the dangers to which we may be expofed: graciously

accept these our services; and grant that in all our works begun, continued, and ended, we may glorify thy holy name; and finally obtain everlafting life and felicity; which we humbly pray for in the name, and as the difciples of JESUS CHRIST, our LORD; in whofe words we conclude our prayers for ourselves, and for all mankind:

NFINITELY great, moft glorious, and ever bleffed LORD, our GOD! The heavens, and the earth, and all things which we behold, fhew forth thy existence, and declare thy perfections. Thy goodness is unchangeable, and thy wisdom paft finding out.
