Time squandered; opportunities lost; friends unreproved; enemies unwon. Oh, tears flow again; let them flow. The deadly sleep, the woeful hap, the judgment looming, over the many all round about. The myriads in heathendom. The groans of creation. Oh! all these verities strike the rock of our heart, and tears must flow. Yes, but turn to God; think ; pray; hope; trust. He knoweth the end from the beginning; He ordereth all things. Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.

The clouds of ignorance

The world is growing old. and sin are beginning to break. The night-time is nearly over. The morning is about to dawn.

SUPPOSE we were informed, on the best possible authority, that, in the heart of Africa, there was a kingdom, great, refined, and glorious. The throne, established on righteousness. The laws, based on truth. The people, rich and happy. The products of the soil, gold, silver, waving corn. Unique in every respect. What effect would such tidings have on the outer world! What variety of emotions would be instantly set at work in this realm of England! The Christian would leap for joy, and be astonished, as Abraham was when he met with Melchizedek. philosophers would meet in earnest conclave, and consult together on so strange a discovery.
