SIR: I have the honor to transmit, herewith, the names of the clerks and other persons employed in this department during the past year, with the time each person was actually employed, with the sums paid to each, in the statement marked A, together with the statements furnished by the heads of the several bureaus of this department, in compliance with the 11th section of the act of August 26, 1842, numbered from 1 to 12, inclusive. I remain, respectfully, your obedient servant,

The clerks in this office are efficient. They have been usefully employed during the year, and the service of none of them could be dispensed with without detriment to the public service.
