PSALM CXLVII. v. 7.

O sing unto the Lord with thanksgiving: sing praises upon the harp›
unto our God.

"O sing unto the Lord a new song: let the con-"gregation of saints praise him."-PSALM cxlix.1.

"Praise him in the sound of the trumpet: praise "him upon the lute and harp.”—PSALM cl. 3.

"Music, both vocal and instrumental, is of "eminent use in setting forth the praises of God; "but there is no instrument like the rational soul, ❝and no melody like that of well-tuned affections. "When this Music accompanies the other, the "sacred Harmony of the Church is complete."'

PSALM I.

1 THE man is blest that hath not lent
To wicked men his ear,
Nor led his life as sinners do,
Nor sat in scorner's chair;

2 But in the law of God the Lord
Doth set his whole delight,
And in the same doth exercise
Himself both day and night.

3 He shall be like a tree that is
Planted the rivers nigh,

Which in due season bringeth forth
Its fruit abundantly;

4 Whose leaf shall never fade nor fall, But flourishing shall stand:

E'en so all things shall prosper well
That this man takes in hand.
