92. The abounding Compassion of God.-Ps. cii. 1 My soul, repeat his praise, Whose mercies are so great; Whose anger is so slow to rise, So ready to abate. 2 High as the heavens are rais'd His word subdues our sins; Fas as the east is from the west, The pity of the Lord, To those that fear his name, Is such as tender parents feel: He knows our feeble frame. 5 Our days are as the grass, Or like the morning flower; If one sharp blast sweep o'er the plain, 6 But thy compassions, Lord! And children's children ever find Thy word of promise sure. 93. The Fatherly Compassion of God.-Ps. ciii. 1 THE Lord-how wondrous are his ways! He takes his mercy for his throne, 2 Not half so high his power hath spread Not half so far his hand hath plac'd 4 Our heavenly Father, wise and just, 5 He knows how soon our nature dies, 6 But his eternal love is sure To all the saints, and shall endure ; 94. The Universal Goodness of God. 1 SWEET is the memory of thy grace, 2 God reigns on high, but not confines His goodness to the skies: Through the whole earth his bounty shines, And every want supplies. 3 With longing eyes thy creaures wait Thy liberal hand provides their meat, 4 How kind are thy compassions, Lord! 5 Creatures, with all their endless race, Thy power and praise proclaim; But saints, that taste thy richer grace, Delight to bless thy name. 95. Divine Love. 1 My God! thy boundless love I praise: How bright on high its glories blaze! How sweetly bloom below! It streams from thine eternal throne; Through heaven its joys for ever run, And o'er the earth they flow. 2 'Tis love that paints the purple morn, And bids the clouds, in air upborne, Their genial drops distil: In every vernal beam it glows; 3 It robes in cheerful green the ground; 4 But in thy gospel see it shine With grace and glories most divine, Proclaiming sins forgiven : There faith, bright seraph, points the way And opens all her heaven. 5 Then let the love that makes me blest, And all my thoughts and passions tend 6 Dart from thine own celestial flame Mark thine own image on my mind 96. The Unfailing Beneficence of God. 1 HOUSE of our God! with cheerful anthems ring, While all our lips and hearts his goodness sing: The opening year his bounties shall proclaim; And all its days be vocal with his name : The Lord is good, his mercy never ending, His blessings in perpetual showers descending. 2 His goodness never fails: the dawn, the shade, Still see new bounties through new scenes display'd: Succeeding ages bless this sure abode; And children lean upon their fathers' God: Man, through the whole extent of his duration, Draws from this source immortal consolation. 3 Burst into praise, my soul; all nature, join! Angels and men, in harmony combine! While human years are measur'd by the sun, Yea, while eternity its course shall run, His goodness, in perpetual showers descending, Exalt in songs and raptures never ending! 97. The Universal Agency of God. 1 THE mighty God who rolls the spheres, 2 His piercing eye at once surveys, 3 Eternal God! who shall not fear, 98.
